Re: thanks and a quick question about prods
thanks for the welcome, LtPowers, I had a quick question... I was looking through some random pages and found an article ( You and I Misbehaving ) I thought might be redundant and prodded it. then Kappa deprodded it, visiting his talk page he seems to be an obsessive deprodder... however since I have not contributed to WP too much I don't feel comfortable submitting the article for AfD. Perhaps you could review the article and let me know if I was in the wrong prodding it. Xenocidic 15:30, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
- I would not say you were "wrong" to propose deletion. However, it is the name of a single from an apparently notable band. It would be interesting to see if it was kept in an AfD, but if you don't feel like nominating it, it isn't doing any harm by its presence. =) Let me know if you want help with the AfD; it's actually fairly simple and there are step-by-step instructions for doing so. Image copyright problem with Image:Highlandergame.jpg
Thank you for uploading Image:Highlandergame.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 15:50, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
- i hope I did this correctly, I'm a wikin00b - I added to the page { { Non-free game screenshot } } Xenocidic (talk) 16:04, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Highlandergame2.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Highlandergame2.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Speedy deletion of Xbox 360 Fanboy
A tag has been placed on Xbox 360 Fanboy requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for web content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. KurtRaschke (talk) 20:40, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

fly plane = ambiguous?
Have you flown on any planes of existence lately? LOL xenocidic (talk) 00:33, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
- Of course I know what a "plane" is, silly. :P But in the context of the article, to include the word "plane" in parentheses next to the already explicit term "fixed-wing aircraft" was unnecessary and unencyclopedic. The compromise is fitting though. :) Sillygostly (talk) 05:04, 1 February 2008 (UTC)

Re: {{xboxp}} on Call of Duty 4
My bad for putting it on that page, you are right about it only suppoed to be put on Xbox and Xbox 360 exclusive games. Sorry about that, it was like 1:30 am then... Thingg⊕⊗ 01:07, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
- No problem, though Blackwatch21 seems to feel that we can tag any game that is on the Xbox or 360, exclusive or not. I disagree as you can see on the WikiProject Xbox talk page. xenocidic (talk) 01:15, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

- Thingg - Did you get rid of the templates on ALL the no exclusive games for 360/xbox? I don't know why blackwatch added the template to all the games. Re: Xbox LIVE userbox
Hey thingg... just noticed you were the creator of the premium hdmi userbox I'm using. Anyhow, could you consider creating a nice one for Xbox Live? the user who created the present Xbox Live userbox hasn't been around since October. here's the message I left him with my ideas -
Any possibility of jazzing up this userbox? perhaps with a picture? LIVE in orange would be nice, see Xbox Live for the image. it would also be cool if you automagically linked to http://live.xbox.com/member/XXX where XXX is the gamertag inputted. and made the color for the link white to match the rest of the text. Thanks in advance! xenocidic (talk) 21:07, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

360 exclusitivity at List of Xbox 360 games
Please be advised that consensus has already been achieved with respect to the "partial" exclusivity for titles which are console-exclusive to the Xbox 360 . Your assertion that a PS3 can be hacked to run Windows has no bearing on this issue. xenocidic (talk) 15:23, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- I don't see a concensus, just a proposal on the talk page care to point it out.
- I also don't think you should talk about something you know nothing about. You don't have to hack the PS3 to run Windows, the function to run other operating systems was built in by Sony.
- If you want a consensus look at this: http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Exclusive
- None of the games I marked No are only available on Xbox 360 no matter what the box says. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.208.226.52 (talk) 15:29, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- Well, here the operative word is "partial" and it has been fully qualified. Consensus obtained, meaning, a proposal was made, and no one objected. Take it up on the talk page. xenocidic (talk) 15:32, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- Can you tell me why exactly it is an issue for you? Maybe it will at least make me understand the issue better. Wii doesn't have this problem, PS3 doesn't have this problem. I opened up the discussion again as it doesn't seem to be resolved or have much of a point --67.208.226.52 (talk) 15:46, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- It is important information for console gamers who don't care about the PC game-space and want to research Console wars. It shows which games you can't get on the other next-gen consoles. xenocidic (talk) 15:51, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- And what about games like The Idolm@ster that haven't come out on PC, yet you consider them partial because it's out on arcade. That doesn't make sense. --67.208.226.52 (talk) 15:56, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

What if the value was changed from "Partial" to "Console" to indicate it is a console-exclusive? xenocidic (talk) 15:58, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- I still don't get it, is Console exclusive label really important? Wii doesn't have exclusives listed at all. PS3 claims console exclusive as Yes. I think it either needs to No, Yes, or Partial with an note on what other systems it's on.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.208.226.52 (talk) 16:05, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- It is important in terms of Console wars. With the new term, anyone who sees "Console" will know it's likely available for Windows, Mac, or Linux, and they can dive deeper to check it out. Fair enough? xenocidic (talk) 16:08, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- The PS3 article should be changed to match. xenocidic (talk) 16:09, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

- So are we in agreeance that "Console" is a fair compromise? xenocidic (talk) 16:15, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Highlandergame.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Highlandergame.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 22:57, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
Spore (video game)
Sillygostly is on a rampage. Doesn't seem to know the difference between "officially announced" and "discussed". I can't stay on much longer because I have to run inventory all night. JAF1970 (talk) 01:08, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- I noticed. He also has a love of removing "RP" from infoboxes. once, I managed to stave him off by referring him to the ESRB article, but I see he went ahead and modified the ESRB article to suit his purposes. though looking at the ESRB website, I'm afraid he might be justified. anyhow the only thing I can suggest is taking it to Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Video_games for informal arbitration, because as it stands, it seems you're both in violation of 3RR. xenocidic (talk) 01:13, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, I removed some unsubstantiated claims from the ESRB article as the ESRB website has stated that the RP symbol is just that. A "symbol" used in advertising for games that are yet to be classified. The OFLC for instance has aa has a similar symbol ("TBC"), but I won't be placing it in the infobox as it provides nothing to the article. You even admitted that my edits were justified. If there are no ratings in the infobox, then evidently the game is yet to be rated. And I don't have a "love" of removing them, but I admit that I am a little fussy about them because users might be encouraged to type in "TBA" notices for other classification systems. Sillygostly (talk) 01:20, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, after vising the ESRB website, I'm willing to concede the point about RP not actually being a rating. Anyhow, there's still the matter of the Wii version, and whether or not it exists or not. As a newcomer to this whole debate, I'm going to step aside on that one. I have to go fix my cousin's computer. My suggestion is to ask the WP VG for direction. xenocidic (talk) 01:23, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- I'm going to back off the whole Wii debate for the time being because it is simply not worth arguing with somebody who has made some very personal attacks towards me, and absolutely refuses to discuss anything. Anyway, I just thought I'd inform you that the DS version has been rated E, and I think the fact that the rating only applies to the DS version should be specified in the infobox. Anyway, I'm glad that we've been able to reach a consensus in the matter. :) Sillygostly (talk) 01:57, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

Xenocidic, I removed your recent addition to Spore (video game). The citation states that it is in development for next-generation consoles but only specifically lists the Wii. It could be that they aren't targeting one of the other two. Heck, it's entirely possible we'll never see it on any of the next-gen consoles, but that's beside the point. The important thing is that EA has not actually confirmed either of the PS3 or the XBox 360 at this time. --Yamla (talk) 16:27, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

Hey thanks for bringing that to my attention and great job so far with formatting that page and handling the edit war. I put in a comment that voices my opinion and I hope the IP user will listen to it. btw, I'm sorry I haven't been around too much lately. I'm in the middle of a few projects other than Wikipedia and I haven't had much time to edit. Anyway, I have to say I'm really glad you joined Wikiproject Xbox because you seem to be the kind of editor who goes for stuff and gets stuff done. My fear for Wikiproject Xbox (especially after seeing some of Blackwatch21's edits) was that it would become cliche and inactive like so many Wikiprojects have. So, thanks for keeping on keeping on. Anyway, I might be on a little more often next week, but I'm not sure. (just wanted to let you know what is going on if I don't get back to you soon). Regards. Thingg⊕⊗ 03:19, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

I like pie, but I'm not announcing it to the world. If you want to say that I like pie, do it here. Basketball110 vandalise me 00:14, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

- Yes, pie is. I didn't realise that... oh yeah, it is inviting vandalism. But that's why I created the guestbook/vandal page. Basketball110 vandalise me 00:18, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:SmithandTinker.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:SmithandTinker.jpg.
Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:23, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

There were personal comments contained in the article that didn't belong there - I just edited them out because they were absolutely immature, inappropriate and didn't have anything to do with the game. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.14.249.84 (talk) 14:26, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

So, it didn't get deleted huh? that really cool man. I just am not familar with copyright laws and I didn't know if it counted as a derivative work or not. But hey, thanks for letting me know its all good and for defending it. :) Thingg⊕⊗ 18:52, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Rollback rights request
Greetings. You recently administrated an AIV for me so I figured you might be the best person to ask. I've been on Wikipedia since 2006, and fairly active since January of this year. I'm presently using Twinkle for rolling back, but then I noticed that it can tend to place a strain on WP's servers. I should mention that I was involved in an edit dispute with respect to List of Xbox 360 games but before it went too far, I sought the advice of the VG WikiProject. I am aware that WP's rollback should only be used for clear-cut cases of vandalism and proper edit summaries should be used in non-vandalism cases. Thank you for your time and consideration. xenocidic (talk) 20:48, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- You did not edit war in the List of Xbox 360 games dispute, so I saw no reason not to grant your request. It has been done. (Took me a while to figure out how; I'd never done it before!) --Ginkgo100talk 22:05, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks! Glad to be your first granting! =) xenocidic (talk) 23:54, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
GTA IV
Sorry, it's here
I didn't realise it was so long ago and had slipped off the page. The user who made the same edit as the IP user is now a banned user. He/she seems to have a Pro Xbox360, anti PS3 standpoint - to put it mildly :) - X201 (talk) 17:11, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
I've re-jigged it a bit. It sounded odd that the PS3 version was announced at the MS press conference. - X201 (talk) 18:45, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

HAHAHAHA that one about Mcdonalds cracked me up..... (it's even better because I generally like Burger King better anyway..more fuel for the fire ;) ) So yeah, maybe you could start your own list on your userpage (I agree they're more funny when added together). In some places we're 8 hours ahead. I assume hte idea is to stop people getting it in the US and leaking it or the plot while we wait for the regular release dates of Friday, thus spoiling their sales for the opening week. It will be the same with GTA.Darkwarriorblake (talk) 00:21, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
RE:Orange Box = GA
Technically its both. The article has passed Wikipedia's good article nomination and has been rated by the Wikiproject as an A-class article. The two are meant to and can exist happily together, as there is the banner proclaiming the article to be a good article, while it can be rated as A-class in the Wikiproject banner. The Orange Box has been rated as an A-class good article, so it should be listed as both on the talk page. Its not the only VG article to do so, its done on several other A-class GA's in the WP:VG influence. -- Sabre (talk) 15:21, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Purecover.JPG)
Thanks for uploading Image:Purecover.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:15, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
RE: Editing the Call of Duty 4 Article
Thank you for making the changes. In regards to my own inability, there is a lock icon on the page, and the option to edit is simply not there for me. Thanks again. Fishboy100 (talk) 23:47, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
Thanks
Hey, thanks for letting me know about that edit. btw, if you see IP users editing userpages, you should probably check it out because quite a few IP users retaliate for reverts or warnings by vandalising the userpage of the person who reverted/warned them. Also, no one will object to you removing vandalism form their talk pages. (at least, no one that I know of will..) Anyway, about the notice that was up on my page, I thought something would be going on in RL that might prevent me from using Wikipedia too often, so I put that up. Later, it turned out the event wasn't going to happen, so I took the notice down. And I'll try to work on the barnstar later tonight. Regards. Thingg⊕⊗ 23:55, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Founding Date
For the founding date for Deckers Brothers, I have seen 1862. However, I believe that I put in that their manufacturing started in 1865, a few years after they were founded. What I understand is that they were developing patents the first few years after founding before producing any pianos. --69.254.64.39 (talk) 00:17, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
