Thanks for your support for the Rosetta Stone article

edit

...and nice to see you back here on Wikipedia! Like you I have taken an extended break from working on WP articles in depth, but signed on a few months ago to do comprehensive work on the Rosetta Stone article mainly because its importance to the field of Egyptology.

It was good working with you on the Ahmose I article a few years ago. I hate to say it but the article could probably do with a revamp in order to ensure that it is still up to the current FA standards (I found out about this the hard way when the other FA article I worked on went up for FA review). The content is still top-notch, but the referencing scheme that was used has fallen behind the times. I keep meaning to get around to it, so just letting you know prior to diving in and working on it. It will also give me a chance to add an image I ran across of a photo of a small statue of Ahmose I that I ran across in a JSTOR article from the beginning of the 20th century which is now considered "lost".

I hope to see you around the Egyptology articles, and if you are up for another collaboration on an article of mutual interest, let me know. Cheers! Captmondo (talk) 13:45, 12 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Re: Egyptian dynasty pages

edit

I history merged some Egyptian dynasty pages, to fix some cut-and-paste moves from 2004. Graham87 08:25, 18 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

And I've just history merged Egyptian hieroglyphs. I don't think there are many other Ancient Egyptian articles that need to be history merged, but I shouldn't say that too soon. As a wiki-archaeologist, I always find old edits in unexpected places! Graham87 08:34, 18 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Nordic Race

edit

I have nominated Nordic race for GA reassessment, an article you have previously shown interest in. The criteria have tightened quite a lot since it was last reviewed more than two years ago, and it currently fails on several criteria, some of which are serious. I hope you'll participate in the discussion.·Maunus·ƛ· 18:48, 12 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

egypt spam

edit

I don't know who you are but I only removed links mass added by Satseshat who is currently blocked for spamming. Links added as references by others weren't touched. 76.235.41.78 (talk) 22:32, 30 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

King Tut

edit

Thanks for the feedback. I will be slower on the "undo's." I will also review the article that you mentioned and try to abide by it, as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dailey78 (talkcontribs) 22:45, 2 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Looking for Anything Picture-wise for Your Ancient Egyptian Articles?

edit

Hello there -- long time no speak! Sorry, have been busy with a number of things for a while, and have not been very active here since helping to bring the Rosetta Stone up to Featured status last year.

Business will take me to Cambridge, U.K. next week, and am planning on visiting the extensive Ancient Egyptian collection at the Fitzwilliam Museum while there and I plan on bringing my camera along (assuming non-flash photography is allowed). Is there anything you will like me to be on the look-out for to help illustrate any of the articles you have an interest in?

Cheers! Captmondo (talk) 15:48, 9 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

New Images

edit

Just to let you know that Commons recently got a small batch of new images from a visitor to the king tut exhibit in Seattle in 2012...who licensed his photos freely on flickr. I used an image of Nofret II's statue, Tut's Senet game board, a limestone block showing Ay from Amarna, Queen Meritamun's inner coffin, and Amenemhat III's and Sheshonk II's pectorals on english wikipedia. Feel free to use any other images if you wish. Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 23:33, 16 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Theophilus (crater), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Coptic (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Contests

edit

User:Dr. Blofeld has created Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/Contests. The idea is to run a series of contests/editathons focusing on each region of Africa. He has spoken to Wikimedia about it and $1000-1500 is possible for prize money. As someone who has previously expressed interest in African topics, would you be interested in contributing to one or assisting draw up core article/missing article lists? He says he's thinking of North Africa for an inaugural one in October. If interested please sign up in the participants section of the Contest page, thanks.♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:38, 21 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of File:Thutmose's head.jpg

edit

The file File:Thutmose's head.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unused, low-res, no obvious use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:01, 3 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
