Orphaned fair use image (Image:Cameron Bright 2007.png)
editThanks for uploading Image:Cameron Bright 2007.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 18:45, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use Image:Thevines2006promo.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Thevines2006promo.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Remember the dot (talk) 17:25, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

List of schools in South Australia
editHi. I was wondering why you were removing the web links - particularly for those schools that don't have a WP blue link? Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 09:04, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, I deleted the web links for those two schools, because although they do not have their own page here on Wikipedia, most of the schools listed on List of schools in South Australia do not have their own page either and do not have a web link beside them. It's a bit much to put a web link beside every school that doesn't have a Wikipedia page considering that there are almost 400 schools in that list in total. Natski-asnd8 (talk) 09:34, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply. I had speculated that may be your reasoning.
I am in at least two minds on this:
- On the one hand, I agree with you.
- On the other hand, leaving the links there leads people to "useful" information, and may encourage others to add some more.
- [(Yes, sometimes I'm an optimist. Also, in wiki-terms, I'm also an inclusionist.) The other reason I had speculated was that I have been reminded (many times) that "WP is not a link farm", and wondered if perhaps that was your motivation. (Personally, I disagree with that POV; my POV is: "The more information WP tells you and points you to, the better".) I'm waffling, aren't I.]
I'm inclined to leave them there and hope people will add more. (Though as you can see, I'm having difficulty making up my mind.)
What do you think? Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 10:18, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
- I can understand where you are coming from in regards to not making this a link farm and yet still providing some information, but I feel that putting a link beside all the schools without a WP page would make the page looks somewhat cluttered. I'd rather see the creation of stub pages for each (or at least a vast majority) of those schools. I find that people are far more inclined to add to an article than create one. For the time being the links could stay, but I'm hoping that most of the schools will eventually get their own page, even if it is a stub.Natski-asnd8 (talk) 12:31, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

Mmmm. You have a point. That's what I seem to be in the process of doing at the moment. What do you think of what I've done so far? (i.e. Should I continue, or should I stop?) Pdfpdf (talk) 12:47, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
"I'd rather see the creation of stub pages for each (or at least a vast majority) of those schools. I find that people are far more inclined to add to an article than create one."
Yes, I agree with you. However, that's a lot of effort, particularly given that any number of less-knowlegable-on-the-topic editors are likely to come along and "prod" the stubs. In principle, it's a great idea, but in practise, there are other things I'd rather do ... Pdfpdf (talk) 12:47, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

Ah ha! So you, too, are a closet optimist! Pdfpdf (talk) 12:47, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
Woo hoo! It looks like you are off to a good start! Well done! Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 15:56, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

editI have tagged Image:Adsec_logo.png as {{orphaned fairuse}}. In order for the image to be kept at Wikipedia, it must be included in at least one article. Otherwise, it will be deleted in seven days. Melesse (talk) 00:57, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

Image permission problem with Image:Paclogo2.png
editThanks for uploading Image:Paclogo2.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 16:30, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of File:NMHS-logo.png
editA tag has been placed on File:NMHS-logo.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free image with no fair use rationale uploaded after May 4, 2006 which has been tagged as not having a rationale for more than 7 days.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:File:NMHS-logo.png|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File copyright problem with File:NMHS-logo.png
editThank you for uploading File:NMHS-logo.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Stifle (talk) 19:20, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
Meetup 12 June 2011
editHi! I just wanted to let you know that Liam Wyatt is in town, so we were thinking of doing a quick meetup at Brunelli's cafe in Rundle Street (at the Rundle Mall end, near the car park) at 6pm on Sunday, with a possibility of drinks afterwards. So if you're interested we hope to see you there. :) - Bilby (talk) 03:18, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:CCSS logo.png
editThanks for uploading File:CCSS logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 23:23, 7 July 2014 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Norwood High School Logo.png
editThank you for uploading File:Norwood High School Logo.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.
This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 3 January 2022 (UTC)
