Managing a conflict of interest
editHello, MichelleAckerley. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Michelle Ackerley , you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:
- avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
- instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
- when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Toddst1 (talk) 15:36, 7 January 2017 (UTC)
Hello there
editHi, it seems that you might be the subject of one of our articles and are displeased with some of the contents. See Wikipedia:Contact us/Article problem/Factual error (from subject) for a general overview of ways to get problems fixed (as well as an email address). You can also mention specific problems on Talk: Michelle Ackerley if you want specific mistakes corrected.
The email address is info-en-q@wikimedia.org. The first thing you might be asked to do is to privately establish your identity. Toddst1 (talk) 15:46, 7 January 2017 (UTC)
Addressing factual inaccuracies
editHi. I note what's happened on your article page. The year of birth was added in by someone who appears to perhaps be disruptive and unhelpful. Similarly, the statement about your brother being a hairdresser was not supported by the source and again the edit was a one-off and unconstructive addition. Generally, it is advised against editing your own article, as described above. I appreciate it may be frustrating if your page does have inaccurate information, especially when added without reasonable justification or explanation as in these two cases, however I would suggest raising the issue on the talk page, the teahouse, the method explained above or by pinging myself or perhaps (CB2288) who has also been active on your article to assist.
