Avocate Volunteering
editHello I'm Aeon an Avocate of the AMA. Can you give me any information that you have on the issue you are having. I will try to help you out as best I can. Aeon Insane Ward 23:48, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
- I can't really help you out on this one, Belltower, but I see Aeon may be able to. I have made a few cosmetic changes to the UC Riversiode article. -- Dyslexic agnostic 23:58, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
- Please post your information and comments here. Aeon's AMA Desk Aeon Insane Ward 00:18, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
- Ok. First thing I will do is cantact Amerique. To she what she has to say (she has also requested an Avocate so I will prob. talk to her Avocate.). Then I will review the edit history of said article and see how both sides have edited. Then I will try to talk to her side on your behalf and try to work out an understanding. I sugggest that we keep this from going to mediation or request for comment unless this informal process fails. I will send a link to Amerique so that user can reply on my AMA page. If we can't come to an agreement I will file a request for comment and get community input on your behalf and try to resolve this conflict. Hopefully this will work out. Aeon Insane Ward 05:03, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
- I have also notified her Advocate so he/she can be in the disscussion. Her advocate is User:The Thadman Aeon Insane Ward 05:39, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
- Amerique has outlined his issues on my AMA page. He has stated that you have been acting very appropately (sorry if the spelling is off). If you wish to make a similar statement outlining your issues that would be great. So far this issue looks to be solvable with out further invervention. Sockpuppet Tag
editI-B. There was a sockpuppet tag on your user page. If such a tag was placed by a SYSOP it needs to remain there until a SYSOP can remove it. I'm going to talk with Mackensen about it to see what eviedence there is. Aeon Insane Ward 05:02, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for restoreing the Sockpuppet tag. Aeon Insane Ward 17:00, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
If that is what you wish IB. But be advised that there may not be any in the AMA that will take your case. You should have told me about the sockpuppets.
I was confiring with Steve (another AMA involved with the dispute) about doing a check user since there seemed to be similatites in your post styles and you to seem to always agree. It seemed logical to check just to be sure. An Advocate doesn't have to agree or totally support you. I usually advise and try to bring BOTH parties to a resoultion. Neither you nor UCRGrad are willing to give any ground which both Amerique and WHS have. In these types of disputes neither sides usually wins, all usually have to settle. Sorry IB but in my opinion you and UCRGrad are been overly subbourn and unwilling to compromise, a situation I feel will not get resoulved informaly. I will still be involved with the case and continue to host the discussion. I feel how ever the a Request for Comment is going to become the next step soon enough. Aeon Insane Ward 23:37, 15 July 2006 (UTC)
I'm not IB. I'm filing this on AMA's behalf to resolve this issue. This has nothing to do with my pesonnel feelings on the matter. Aeon Insane Ward 02:49, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
- First and foremost, you were IB's advocate, not mine. It is irrelevant what you think of my actions. Secondly, as an advocate, you don't necessarily have to agree, but you MUST support your client. Just as a public defender may not agree with his client's crimes, he still MUST look out for his client's best interests. You clearly did not do your duty as an advocate, and you put your own interests first. You should not be allowed to participate in the AMA as a result, and I intend to pursue this matter with the AMA. UCRGrad 04:41, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
- I was explaining that to you UCGrad. And you both refused to ownup for your issues. This is the last I'm going to say on it. Aeon Insane Ward 05:40, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
UCR discussion
edit- I'm new to the discussion, but hardly new to Wikipedia, as a simple history check would have informed you. And, as I said, there is plenty of reason to suspect sockpuppetry, and your history of attacking the mental capacities of other editors makes it impossible to assume good faith. Instead of making vague threats, you could and should allow the discussion to continue. Danny Lilithborne 01:05, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
Okay. Just keep your trolling to minimum.Insert-Belltower 11:42, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for all your hard work in helping this process along, also IB. Incidentially, I'm not familiar with the Princess Bride, but I notice you have an interesting way of making plural-gender references to yourself. I wonder what that means?--Amerique 16:21, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
Your RfC
editInsert-Belltower this is a notification that the RfC against you has now been filed. None of us wanted it to go this far but however we all feel this is the only remaining step left to resolve this before it winds up going else where. This is nothing personal against you or UCRGrad even, but a way to get outside views on the conflict that you, UCRGrad, Amerique ect. has been involved in. We are sorry this had to go to RfC. Happy Editing in the future Aeon Insane Ward 19:32, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
Just to give you a heads up, when responding to an RfC make sure that it is in the responise section. UCRGrad was reverted on his. Don't want you or anybody to get into a revert war in a RfC. Aeon Insane Ward 16:57, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
Remaining Issues?
editRegarding what? I was discussing with Slyzack(?) the possibility of closing the survey after Evil Saltine's edits significantly changed the POV of some content. I will move this question to the article's talk page, under your heading if you don't at all mind.--Amerique 21:53, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
Suggestion
editAfter reading Doc Troppics comment I have a suggestion to You and Amerique. Why not try to request Mediation again (Formal or Informal through the mediation Cabal up to you). In this case however it would only involve the two of you (WHS, UCRGrad et all would not be involved). That way you could discuss the issues you have with each other with out outside influence on either side with a Neutral Party over seeing it. It could help to keep this issue from going higher and might even start to help with the other issues. How do the two of you feel about this? (NOTE: I will not be mediating if you do decied to give it a try, but I will provide the link) Aeon Insane Ward 19:16, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
If you want to do this IB I will go through with it. But I think we've been engaging more or less productively considering the circumstances.--Amerique 19:39, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
I think so to, and I hope it continues. I feel that IB your editing relationship with Amerique has improved greatly. Aeon Insane Ward 00:00, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
Ok, but we should keep the mediation option open. Incidentially, believe it or not, Riverside may not be "nicer," but is much better in terms of being a real city than Ann Arbor, "A2." Also in Riverside you have the option of going to LA, here the nearest big city is Detroit, which is completely depressing.--Amerique 14:56, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
Hello Again.
editHello IB Aeon once again. This is to offer up Apology for the advocacy case, whether I believe I did what was right is irelavent. YOU felt wronged (and the only way to try to fix this forgive and forget) so here it goes. I'm really sorry for what has happend. Hopefully in the future we may be able to colabrate on a article, who knows. Good Luck on Wikipedia and Happy Editing. Æon Insane Ward 19:25, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
Oh and to show there are no hard feels on my end
The Resilient Barnstar | ||
You and I may have had our issues but this is to say we can put them behind us. I Aeon award you the Resilient Barnstar in hopes that you will remember that sometimes even the best make mistakes Æon Insane Ward 19:23, 28 July 2006 (UTC) |
Hey, IB, upon reading the "apology" above, it doesn't look like Aeon actually admitted to any wrongdoing. I mean, he basically turned on you after day 1, even though he had promised to be your advocate and help you...and now he states that he believed what he did was right!? It sounds more like Aeon is only "sorry" that you are dissatisfied with his advocacy, rather than remorseful for the his actions that wronged you. The analogy would be killing somebody's son and apologizing to the victim's mother because she is angry at him, rather than for the act of killing. Just wanted to offer my opinion here. UCRGrad 00:02, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
- UCRGrad, this really wasn't your apology to pick with. It was addressed to Insert-Belltower alone, so it is up to IB to decide if it was sufficient. Aeon is upset with how the choices that he made in handling the case went and he has realized that no matter what his own feelings about the issue are that IB got hurt from his actions and that he is sorry for the difficulties he caused. Don't poison the well. If you have something to say that will help to work through this issue please say it. Otherwise, with all due respect, I implore you to carefully consider your words before you type them up. אמר Steve Caruso (desk/AMA) 03:32, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
Hello IB
For the RfC I can't do anything about as that is up to Amerique (I only filed it).
For the AMA I would be willing to take a break from it (As I have done so allready) Æon Insane Ward 18:36, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
Hold up I need to make a correction to my first statement. I will applogize for my end of it, but that is all I can offer up with it. Sorry man in order to get rid of the RfC you are going to have to make amends with Amerique and the others. But I would not pursue any issues against you and withdraw myself from that issue. (Sorry I relised I forgot to address what I ment). Æon Insane Ward 18:41, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
Hello again. For the RfC i did the only thing I could really do. I have removed my name form the Certification. I however still agree with Doc Tropics and have left my name on his summary. Æon Insane Ward 19:03, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
Compromise
editAfter rereading your post on my talk page I saw that I had missed something. So here is my compromise
1. Leave the AMA for 6 months (Accepted and Done)
2. Remove my sig from the certification of RfC (Done, however I still support Doc Tropics Comment)
3. I will not post on your talk page (Or in your user space) or even edit the UCR article (except to revert Vandalism).
4. I will not pursue or comment on any possible furture RfC's, AMA cases ect. that you are involved in.
There it is. I still support Doc Tropics Comment becuase I believe it is true. The sockpuppet issue is supported by Checkuser, For the meatpuppet thing and the other issues his post basily says that that issue got blown out up due ot fusteration with UCRGrad. Which is what I think happened. I have removed my cerification of the RfC and will not post on it again (or in its talk page) but however you do need to resolve your issues with Amerique and the otehrs and get them to understand you and request that they retract the RfC since they are the main partier in it. If you agree to this I will not post on your talk pages or on the UCR Article unless vandalism occurs. If vandalism occurs I will revert it as a member of the Counter Vandalism Unit. Again If you agree to this then if you get into any other issues I will not get involved. Basicly that meens I will not Comment on any future (or the current) RfC's your involved with (As in your the subject of or about, not if your commenting as an outside party.) nor will I handle any AMA case that you are involved in (on either side). As for the AMA again if you agree to this then I will post a 6 month leave of absence from it. Ok that is it ball is in your court. Æon Insane Ward 02:30, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
UCR block
editOkay. I have to say, Aeon has been somewhat misleading about the whole issue. Thanks for the update. I'll end the block immediately. Keep me updated, thanks! RyanGerbil10(The people rejoice!) 03:45, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
Re: Aeon1006
editHey, Insert, I don't know about you, but I'm still very much upset by the way he handled your advocacy. Prior to this charade, I had complete faith in the WP dispute resolution system, but after the way he promised to help you, and then immediately turned on you - I have become seriously disillusioned. I can understand how Aeon was mislead into thinking you had done something wrong...and he was obviously prejudiced because you had the sockpuppet tag, but notwithstanding, his obligation was to BE YOUR ADVOCATE, and instead, he betrayed your trust. I see that he has left, probably to sidestep these allegations - how convenient. Even upon his departure, he still had absolutely no idea that he breached his duty and what consequences this had. He even turned an admin against me through deceit. I'm annoyed. I think the best course of action is to continue to encourage Steve to come up with a system of accountability for the AMA so this issue doesn't occur again. I also think that if Aeon attempts any more advocacy, then he MUST be scrutinized. I don't want to see him do what he did to ANYONE on wikipedia, god forbid in real life. The last thing we need is another Linda Tripp / Monica Lewinsky deal. UCRGrad 03:58, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
- I concur, UCRGrad.Insert-Belltower 00:14, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
- So which one of you is Monica Lewinsky?--Amerique 05:28, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- You can be Monica, Amerique, since you don't mind assuming the feminine role.Insert-Belltower 17:05, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- Hey now, I just don't take offense. But you two must share a pretty interesting off-line relationship. I wonder what object exactly your user name refers to?--Amerique 19:41, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not exactly sure what you're referring to, Amerique. It's one thing to openly admit on your userpage that you don't mind being referred to as male or female, but it's another thing to project your personal gender ambiguity and insecurity onto other people. And just in case you were under the impression that your little quip was someone clever or witty, let me be the first person to inform you that it really wasn't (seriously). Thanks. UCRGrad 02:59, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
- You're right. I was out of line. Sorry if I offended either of you.--Amerique 05:20, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

- For the record, I am personally looking after Aeon's activity within the AMA, so there is no reason to be at unease. :-) Rest assured that I am also working on putting together an accountability system that will actually create some demographics that we can look at in terms of an Advocate's performance on individual cases as percieved by themself as well as their charge and other users who were involved. אמר Steve Caruso (desk/AMA) 18:26, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
Highlander
editProbably put this in the wrong place before.
I am an editor with the UCR Highlander. I have assigned one of my writers to cover the Highlander wikipedia article. She, like most people, has a little trouble figuring out the Wiki interface, so she asked me to contact you for her. Basically, we are trying to write a balanced article about the entry, getting the motivations from contributors on both sides, student reaction, faculty verification on some of the statistics, etc etc. Obviously, you are a person we would like to hear from. You can remain anonymous if you'd like, or give you real name. We would just like to ask you a few questions, get your opinion and show it to the student body.
Would you be interested? If you would, email me at features@highlander.ucr.edu or just post back here on how to contact you. Believe me, I am not trying to trick you into anything, just working on compelling journalism.

Big C at UCR
editI'm not sure I understand why you have reverted this sentence at least twice:
A 132-by-70-foot concrete “C“ was constructed by students in 1957 on the eastern slope of the Box Springs Mountain. It can be seen easily from the campus approximately 1,500 feet below. Freshman classes have the responsibility of painting the letter gold and keeping it clean throughout the year[
If it wasn't you, then I apologize.
Anyway, you may have some knowledge as to what is wrong with it as I have edited it.
Sincerely, your friend and fellow UCR grad, GeorgeLouis 15:13, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
Userpage Vandalism
editI know you are completely aware that removing a sock puppet tag placed by an admin constitutes WP:vandalism. I'm sure you are also aware that placing such a tag on another's user page without reason also constitutes vandalism. So, consider this your first and last warning before I report your account to WP:AIV. Have a nice day, --Amerique dialectics 17:59, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

Problem with username
editHello sockpuppeting vandal,
Please read: Wikipedia:Username, with special attention to section 4 "Inappropriate usernames" prohibiting:
- "Names that refer to or imply sexual acts, genitalia, or sexual orientation including slang, innuendo, and double entendre."
- "Names that refer to or allude to reproductive or excretory functions of the body."
If I see any further posts anywhere under this username, I'm reporting it to WP:RFC/NAME. You might interpret this as an attempt to get your account entirely banned from WP. That would be correct. However, given your proclivity to use sockpuppets, I'm sure I'll be seeing you again under some other sig. If you do decide to come back under another identity, I suggest working within consensus if you want to edit any articles productively and don't want further accounts to be investigated as socks of "Insert-Belltower."
Go Blue,
--Ameriquedialectics 18:59, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
Here is an avenue for you to change your username legitimately:
--Ameriquedialectics 20:25, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
- Tell you what, change your username legitimately to something acceptable under WP:Username, and I won't list your account at WP:RFC/NAME. Beyond that, I'm here on my own conduct under policy, as are you.-- Ameriquedialectics 05:32, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
- Do this and I won't push the SOCK tag issue on your new name, if I don't notice any new sock activity coming from your new account. I'm not saying others won't, but if that happens I'll stay out of it. There does not seem to be any particular WP policy on this, so I think you should be able to do this if you want to "put the past behind us and move-on," as you say.-- Ameriquedialectics 06:00, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
If you need any assistance dealing with the bureaucrats let me know and I'd be happy to "advocate" for you in this case;-) Best,-- Ameriquedialectics 01:43, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
