Fair use rationale for File:Greater Montreal 2008 logo.png

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Greater Montreal 2008 logo.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MorganKevinJ(talk) 03:32, 26 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Um, I am trying, but you keep interrupting me when I try to add the fair use rationale to the file page. So back off for a few minutes. Dave Pritchard (talk) 03:46, 26 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Artwork subject of DMCA takedown

edit

Hello. Some of the heraldic images you added to articles, those by the artist "Alexander Liptak" who may go by the name of "Xanderliptak" or "Alexander" are subject to a Digital Millennium Copyright Act takedown, in which all of this artist's work was removed from English Wikipedia and the Commons. Given that this is still in effect, artwork by this artist should not be uploaded without a specific license from the artist which is compatible with the conditions of the GFDL and CreativeCommons licenses. Since it may take some time for these images to be deleted, I have taken the precaution of removing them from all articles you added them to. Please do not re-add them, as it would be a violation of copyright law. Thanks. Beyond My Ken (talk) 02:49, 14 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

P.S. You are the subject of this report on the Administrators' noticeboard. Beyond My Ken (talk) 02:57, 14 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
What is all of that? Dave Pritchard (talk) 07:47, 15 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
Well, since you're almost certainly User:Xanderliptak, you should know exactly what all of that is. Do you have a more specific question? → ROUX  08:07, 15 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
Who are you? And if I am almost certainly someone then I would only almost certainly know, I would have to be exactly someone to exactly know. You sound like the Red Queen from Burton's film, not quite sure what she means to say. I didn't know I was supposed to look up these Digital Millennium Copyright Acts, and there is no where on the upload forms that tells or points me to look them up. So, sorry? A couple of the images were on another Wikipedia, I found the blog, and uploaded a bunch of them here. Oops. Dave Pritchard (talk) 17:44, 15 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
You know who I am, Alexander. The depressing consistency with which you assume everyone else is stupid is kind of a dead giveaway. Bye bye. → ROUX  17:53, 15 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
