Re: May 2020
Why revert the change I made to CTV Atlantic when I was simply adding some factual information? The reversion you made right after that was an act of bad faith on your part. 2001:569:BD1A:CD00:E1D9:8DC3:7B79:BC24 (talk) 13:23, 5 May 2020 (UTC)
- This must have been a false positive, I've added back your content. Antila333 (talk) 13:27, 5 May 2020 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks. 2001:569:BD1A:CD00:E1D9:8DC3:7B79:BC24 (talk) 13:30, 5 May 2020 (UTC)
- Hey Antila! I'm another trainer over at CVUA and came across your page while looking through recent graduates. I just wanted to let you know that when these mistakes happen (which they do, and that's fine), it's a good practice to strike the warning you left and actually apologize to the editor (especially if it's an actual registered user and the warning will go in their history). You don't have to go back now, it's fine, just wanted to let you know for the future. Thanks! -- puddleglum2.0 16:39, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
New page reviewer granted
Hi Antila. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers
" user group. Please check back at WP:PERM in case your user right is time limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page. In addition, please remember:
- Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
- You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
- If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
- Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. signed, Rosguill talk 00:01, 12 May 2020 (UTC)
Hi Antila, I reviewed your copy edits to Gondi (film). Thank you for the improvements you made to the article. I noticed a few remaining issues with the article, including:
- The name of one of the main characters was spelled three ways: Shamima, Shamina, and Shamira. (Google says the first was correct).
- The phrase "living with a faint memory" sounded odd; I changed it to "memory loss".
- I also made some changes to verbs so that the plot summary was in the present tense.
Please review my changes and let me know if you have any questions. Regards, Tdslk (talk) 01:58, 15 May 2020 (UTC)

Congratulations from both myself and all of the instructors at the Counter Vandalism Unit Academy on your successful completion of the Counter Vandalism Unit Academy. You completed your final exam with a score of 96%. Well done! Further information on your achievement can be found here.
Thank you for volunteering to help keep Wikipedia free of vandalism - it is a vital task for the project, and one which is easy to do badly, but not so easy to do well. Thank you for taking the time to learn best practice. If you ever need any advice with anything you come across in the future, you're always welcome to drop a note on my talk page. John Cena
Hello:
The copy edit you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article John Cena has been completed.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
There are many statements in the article tagged with a "Citation Needed" tag. Until these are properly cited the article will not even be considered for Good Article status. The article's length also precludes it attaining Good Article" status. Breaking it up into several articles is the only way to fix this issue, but that will require a plan on how the article could be split up and a consensus to do so.
Regards,
Archiving
I have replied at Girth's talk page too, but in case you would like me to convert the archives format for you feel free to ping me. What I'd do would be to rename the two existing ones to Archive_1 and Archive_2 then to configure the bot to keep archiving in Archive_2 (with a limit). I can move pages without leaving a redirect with the WP:PAGEMOVER tool. —PaleoNeonate – 08:59, 22 May 2020 (UTC)
- Hey PaleoNeonate, sorry for the late reply, actually a super cyclone came in Kolkata on 20th May causing tremendous destruction so internet access wasn't available for the last few days. If you can, then kindly please convert the date archives to numbered archives. Thanks. Antila (✉) 07:15, 26 May 2020 (UTC)
- I think that all that was necessary was done. If there's a problem, feel free to ask again. I remember about the catastrophe and am sorry that you were affected, but glad that you're safe. Welcome, —PaleoNeonate – 10:59, 26 May 2020 (UTC)
NPP follow up
Overall you did a good job reviewing new pages, but there were a few cases that I want to review with you.
- Jamil Abiad does not meet GNG or NBASKET (although we'll get a final word on that in the AfD that I just nominated it for), although he does have some available coverage. I'm particularly concerned, however, that you didn't even tag it for including non-neutral language (which should also have been a further sign that something was fishy notability-wise). Of the articles you reviewed, this is the one that gave me the most pause when considering renewing your permissions.
- Alessandro Famularo you correctly identified that the sources were lacking, but I'm pretty sure that the races that Famularo has competed in fall short of meeting WP:NMOTORSPORT. NMOTORSPORT is a tough guideline to parse if you're not familiar with motorsports, and to be honest I'm not entirely confident that I made the right call here in overturning your review. We'll get a final word in the AfD that I started.
- The sourcing at Kiana Valenciano is not sufficient for establishing that the subject is notable. I was able to find more sources (and perhaps you did as well), and have since tagged it with {{Sources exist}}. While I think that accepting the article was the right call, the current state of the article is far enough from establishing that notability guidelines that I would want to see some sort of more citations or sources exist tag placed on it. Note that as none of the works in the artist's discography have Wikipedia articles for them, the article itself does not have evidence that WP:MUSICBIO has been met.
- Jon Weinbach could maybe use a {{primary sources}} tag, or a note on the talk page, it's been positively WP:REFBOMBed.
Don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have further questions, or think I missed something in the above assessment. signed, Rosguill talk 00:15, 27 May 2020 (UTC)
Articles for Creation: List of reviewers by subject notice
Hi Antila/Archives, you are receiving this notice because you are listed as an active Articles for Creation reviewer.
Recently a list of reviewers by area of expertise was created. This notice is being sent out to alert you to the existence of that list, and to encourage you to add your name to it. If you or other reviewers come across articles in the queue where an acceptance/decline hinges on specialist knowledge, this list should serve to facilitate contact with a fellow reviewer.
To end on a positive note, the backlog has dropped below 1,500, so thanks for all of the hard work some of you have been putting into the AfC process!
Sent to all Articles for Creation reviewers as a one-time notice. To opt-out of all massmessage mailings, you may add Category:Wikipedians who opt out of message delivery to your user talk page. Regards, Sam-2727 (talk)

Hello, Antila, I wanted to ask you about your review of this article. After an IP user alerted the BLP noticeboard, I took a look and was a bit underwhelmed by the article's state. I don't know if part of the New Page Patrol process is to check the article for compliance with the Biographies of Living Persons policy so I wanted to ask if you considered that when you reviewed it. I found that it did violate that policy in multiple ways and required extensive reduction and editing. Thanks for your help and I hope you and yours are staying safe. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 16:25, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Eggishorn, I noticed the BLP violation while I was reviewing but since I was pretty busy at that time I marked it as reviewed since it meets notability guidelines and planned to remove the BLP violations later when I had some more time. Unfortunately school studies consumed my entire time so I didn't get the chance to work on it and I only saw your message now. Thank you for cleaning up the BLP violation. Antila (✉) 06:27, 3 June 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you for the response, Antila. It has been a long time since I was involved with NPP or AfC so I don't know the current standards. When I was involved, if I had seen an article such as this I would have left it unreviewed until I knew I would be able to remove the problems. I understand what you were thinking, though, and that sometimes life interferes. This is a volunteer project and has to come behind other priorities. Thanks again. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Draft:Anissa Haddaoui into another page. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution
. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. Robert McClenon (talk) 15:40, 5 June 2020 (UTC)

Guild of Copy Editors June 2020 Newsletter
Hello and welcome to the June newsletter, a brief update of Guild activities since March 2020. You can unsubscribe from our mailings at any time; see below. All times and dates stated are in UTC. Current events
Election time: Nomination of candidates in our mid-year Election of Coordinators opened on 1 June, and voting will take place from 00:01 on 16 June. GOCE coordinators normally serve a six-month term and are elected on an approval basis. Self-nominations are welcome. If you've thought about helping out at the Guild, or you know of another editor who would make a good coordinator, please consider standing for election or nominating them here. June Blitz: This blitz begins at 00:01 on 14 June and ends at 23:59 on 20 June, with themes of articles tagged for copyedit in May 2020 and requests. Drive and blitz reports
March Drive: Self-isolation from coronavirus may have played a hand in making this one of our most successful backlog elimination drives. The copy-editing backlog was reduced from 477 to a record low of 118 articles, a 75% reduction. The last four months of 2019 were cleared, reducing the backlog to three months. Fifty requests were also completed, and the total word count of copy-edited articles was 759,945. Of the 29 editors who signed up, 22 completed at least one copy edit. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here. April Blitz: This blitz ran from 12 to 18 April with a theme of Indian military history. Of the 18 people who signed up, 14 copyedited at least one article. Participants claimed a total of 60 copyedits. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here. May Drive: This event marked the 10th anniversary of the GOCE's copy-editing drives, and set a goal of diminishing the backlog to just one month of articles, as close to zero articles as possible. We achieved the goal of eliminating all articles that had been tagged prior to the start of the drive, for the first time in our history! Of the 51 editors who signed up, 43 copyedited at least one article. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here. Other news
Progress report: as of 2 June, GOCE participants had processed 328 requests since 1 January, which puts us on pace to exceed any previous year's number of requests. As of the end of the May drive, the backlog stood at just 156 articles, all tagged in May 2020. Outreach: To mark the 10th anniversary of our first Backlog Elimination Drive, The Signpost contributor and GOCE participant Puddleglum2.0 interviewed project coordinators and copy-editors for the journal's April WikiProject Report. The Drive and the current Election of Coordinators have also been covered in The Signpost's May News and Notes page. Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators Jonesey95, Baffle gab1978, Reidgreg, Tdslk and Twofingered Typist. To discontinue receiving GOCE newsletters, please remove your name from our mailing list.

Hi, I see that you declined Draft:David Bitsindou per lack of notability. Just to let you know that the player does pass WP:NFOOTY from playing 20+ matches in the Veikkausliiga, a fully professional league. Hi Antila, I'm Kevin. Hello Antila/Archives,
- Your help can make a difference
NPP Sorting can be a great way to find pages needing new page patrolling that match your strengths and interests. Using ORES, it divides articles into topics such as Literature or Chemistry and on Geography. Take a look and see if you can find time to patrol a couple pages a day. With over 10,000 pages in the queue, the highest it's been since ACPERM, your help could really make a difference.
- Google Adds New Languages to Google Translate
In late February, Google added 5 new languages to Google Translate: Kinyarwanda, Odia (Oriya), Tatar, Turkmen and Uyghur. This expands our ability to find and evaluate sources in those languages.

- A discussion on handling new article creation by paid editors is ongoing at the Village Pump.
- Also at the Village Pump is a discussion about limiting participation at Articles for Deletion discussion.

Thank you for participating in the blitz! Please consider voting in the GOCE coordinator elections which are open through 30 June. – Reidgreg (talk) 16:56, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Reidgreg, I'm going to vote in the election tomorrow. At first, I was thinking about running but ultimately decided not to because I had only recently started contributing to the guild and decided to build up more experience so that I can be a bit sure about my chances next time. Antila ✉ 17:41, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
- Good idea. I recommend to anyone to stick with the Guild for six months before nominating, to see if it's something that you like and that would hold your interest before making a commitment. We don't want anyone to feel obligated to volunteer for something that they're not going to enjoy. If you want to prepare for being a coordinator, check out the coordinator task list, read the guild talk pages (including the archives), and look at the page histories and diffs for our events to see how we do things. – Reidgreg (talk) 18:44, 25 June 2020 (UTC)

New Page Patrol December Newsletter
Hello Antila/Archives,
- Year in review
It has been a productive year for New Page Patrol as we've roughly cut the size of the New Page Patrol queue in half this year. We have been fortunate to have a lot of great work done by Rosguill who was the reviewer of the most pages and redirects this past year. Thanks and credit go to JTtheOG and Onel5969 who join Rosguill in repeating in the top 10 from last year. Thanks to John B123, Hughesdarren, and Mccapra who all got the NPR permission this year and joined the top 10. Also new to the top ten is DannyS712 bot III, programmed by DannyS712 which has helped to dramatically reduce the number of redirects that have needed human patrolling by patrolling certain types of redirects (e.g. for differences in accents) and by also patrolling editors who are on on the redirect whitelist.

- Reviewer of the Year
John B123 has been named reviewer of the year for 2020. John has held the permission for just over 6 months and in that time has helped cut into the queue by reviewing more than 18,000 articles. His talk page shows his efforts to communicate with users, upholding NPP's goal of nurturing new users and quality over quantity.
- NPP Technical Achievement Award
As a special recognition and thank you DannyS712 has been awarded the first NPP Technical Achievement Award. His work programming the bot has helped us patrol redirects tremendously - more than 60,000 redirects this past year. This has been a large contribution to New Page Patrol and definitely is worthy of recognition.

June election: Jonesey95 was chosen to continue as lead coordinator, assisted by Dhtwiki, Tenryuu, and Miniapolis. New maintenance template added to our project scope: After a short discussion in June, we added {{cleanup tense}} to the list of maintenance templates that adds articles to the Guild's copy editing backlog categories. This change added 198 articles, spread over 97 months of backlog, to our queue. We processed all of those articles except for those from the three or four most recent months during the July backlog elimination drive (Here's a link to a "tense" discussion during the drive). Progress report: As of 18:26, 24 September 2021 (UTC), GOCE copyeditors have processed 468 requests since 1 January and there were 60 requests awaiting completion on the Requests page. The backlog of articles tagged for copy-editing stood at 433 (see monthly progress graph above). Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators Jonesey95, Dhtwiki, Tenryuu, and Miniapolis. To discontinue receiving GOCE newsletters, please remove your name from our mailing list.
