The Singles Chart is a weekly record chart based on single sales from Sunday to Saturday; during the 2000s, a total of 88 singles reached number one. The most successful artist of the 2000s was American singer-songwriter Madonna, who topped the Singles Chart for 39 weeks with seven different singles. "Umbrella" (2007) by Barbadian singer Rihanna and American rapper Jay-Z was the biggest-selling single of the decade; it spent 13 consecutive weeks at the top of the chart during the 2000s. The first number-one single of the decade was "Dov'è l'amore" by American singer and actress Cher. The final number one of the decade was "Meet Me Halfway" by American music group The Black Eyed Peas.
