I am from Germany, where I studied Physical Engineering and Computer Science. I hold a PhD in Natural Sciences (Pharmacy), specializing in structural proteins of the
extracellular matrix. I work at a
Fraunhofer institute. My research interests lie in the area of extracellular matrix molecules such as elastin or collagens and in the design of materials to mimic biological functionality.
Research activities:
● Development of biomimetic materials for medical applications and tissue engineering
● Microstructural and molecular characterization of biological materials and biomaterials
● Matrix-degrading proteases and matrikines
● Solving elusive questions concerning the formation, function and long-term changes of extracellular fiber proteins
