VP Site
Heya Alex. I've recently set up a new server for amidaniel.com, and as a result, _a lot_ was lost. It's been a rather frustrating process, but I'm slowly getting things up and running again. phpCollab is momentarily down, and while I do believe I'll reinstall it, I am not sure if I will be able to recover all the data from the old install. I'm primarily writing to make sure that you have a back up of the 1.36 source (and all derivations thereof); I definitely have backups of the 1.35 and earlier source, but I am not sure about 1.36. In related news, I've set up some mailing lists, one explicitly for VP devs, at http://amidaniel.com/mailmain/listinfo , please take some time to subscribe when you get the chance. I also installed an interesting bit of software called BUGS, which I installed at http://amidaniel.com/bugs/ that I was hoping you could take a look at it and see what you think; it's sort of like an easier-to-use bugzilla. Anyway, if you could please pass this info along to the other devs it would be much appreciated. Thanks. AmiDaniel (talk) 20:31, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

If you are experiencing a 'User list is corrupt' message, it is because you are not running the latest version of the software.
You should download the latest version (1.35) and ensure you are approved to use it.

Welcome to Novels WikiProject
Hi, and welcome to the Novels WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to fiction books often referred to as "Novels".
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated quite regularly. You can watch it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WikiProject_Novels_announcements}} there.
While you are updating your userpage, don't forget our userbox {{Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/Outreach/User WPNOVELS}}. - The project has a monthly newsletter; it will normally be delivered as a link, but other methods are available.
There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:
- Starting some new articles? Our article structure guidelines / template outlines some things to include.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the members, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 08:31, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

This user was declined acceptance three times before you approved, and two of those declines were within 5 days of your approval. While I don't want to remove approval I would like to make sure that you were aware of that before you had approved. Prodego talk 19:42, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
- Overriding is a bit drastic: "Ok your good" "WAIT, no we changed our minds" ;). I just wanted to reiterate my "be careful" comment, Beta would prefer that we are pretty stringent about the requitements. Personally I was lax, only checking editcount, and Beta actually asked me to stop moderating (which ultimately led to my being on PhPCollab, go figure). Speaking of Betacomand, did you know that by giving Beta the dev build, you breached that contract Daniel made you agree to? That email you sent to amidaniel said "agree not to publish the source code, in part or in whole, or binary builds of the software without the written consent...". Certainly amidaniel won't mind, especially since the source is public now, but it probably couldn't have hurt to ask. On a much more positive note, I wanted to say thanks for all the work you have done on the code on behalf of the entire VP userbase. You've really helped stabilize the program. Now I am going to point at the Windows Vista bug, which I have a suspicion will be really really hard / impossible to fix. ;) Prodego talk 01:59, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
- butting in... Alex informed me before giving the build to Beta I believe, and in any case, I think it's perfectly fine that he did this. The clause is more in there to prevent malicious software from being distributed as official releases, and most of that little legal mumbojumbo derives itself from a time when I gave a damn--to be honest, I've become quite ambivolent lately. As for approval standards, well, my same mindset seems to apply there as well--though I haven't really helped with any of the list moderation in a long time, I would say my standards tend to generally be quite a bit laxer than Beta's (in fact, I've wanted to get rid of the approval system for some time). But if Beta feels it necessary to uphold stricter criteria to protect the integrity of the tool, I don't feel it right of me to disagree. If I may also extend my thanks to you Alex, the work you've done on VP has been absolutely amazing, and I'm much appreciative. I hope that you continue to contribute to the project, as your efforts have made a tremendous impact. AmiDaniel (talk) 08:09, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, the first time I tried for approval, I hardly had enough edits, then I came back with over 250, but for some reason didn't get it, then I tried again to see if they would say why I didn't get it, then after much vandal-fighting, I got it. --Jordan Elder talk 17:31, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

I figured that I would be rejected. I figured that I would give see if it were possible even with fewer than 250. I plan to reapply after coming up with 250 edits it just takes a while fitting edits in with homework. -Vcelloho 19:27, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

User:Universal Hero
Hello, probably "none of my business", but I saw that you denied access to VP for this user and welcomed them to try again soon. In case you are not aware, I would like to point out that the user has been revoked from using WP:AWB on two occasions for specific misuse of that tool. While the user did not act maliciously, they were judged to be using the tool inappropriately by myself and at least 2 admins/mods. I know that the capabilities and standards for these two tools are different, but I consider them to be 2 of the most powerful tools available for non-admins, and both can create great harm if not used properly. Obviously, you should decide as you see fit, if and when they reapply for VP, but I did want you to at least be aware of this additional item. Respectfully. --After Midnight 0001 01:00, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
blocked application
i was denied because i was blocked. It's okay it's no offense taken it happens on wikipedia. A new user signs up 5 different accounts and they all go yell at one administrator who blocked me. I can handle it :)
CINEGroup 16:26, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
It was in error. I can sit here and type it out for the next 4 hours so it would be understandable, but it's something I could voice tell in 5 minutes and any competent person could see it clearly. CINEGroup 16:41, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
I can't account for the fact that wikipedia has groups that hang together. They claim I gave a user 3rr rule 4 times on his page. If you'll look, you will see I NEVER gave him any 3rr. But I was blocked before I could tell them that. And just like you, they say the same thing "Oh well if so and so blocked you, it must be fine"
Maybe look into the actual evidence. So many things get lost on wikipedia because of the editing, but I never gave the person a 3rr not even once, which is what I was blocked for. CINEGroup 16:49, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
[5] Not that it matters to you now, you've already made your decision CINEGroup 16:50, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
Thank you
Thanks for the authorization. And BTW, may I completely rip-off your user page design :)? It looks really cool, and I would like to use something similar for my page, only with different colors. Will give you credit on the page for creating the design.
So? Pretty please? -- xompanthy 22:43, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
- Great! Will do that as soon as I get some free time on my hands. -- xompanthy 22:47, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
- "The username you are trying to connect with is not approved to use VandalProof". I'm thinking this is caused by my username being automatically capitalized to "Xompanthy" on wikipedia, even if it's really "xompanthy". So it's not the same with the name in your database, which I'm guessing is "xompanthy". Other than that, I have no idea why it's not working...
- Help? -- xompanthy 22:55, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
- Works now. Thanks. :) -- xompanthy 23:07, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
Vandalproof
Thanks for the add but I'm having a problem. I manage to log in fine on the Vandalproof connect box, but I once I click the Verify Authorisation, nothing happens. It's not just that I'm getting a message that says I'm not on the list it's just that the box stays as it is with the username and privileges box staying greyed out with no changes. I've left this for a few minutes and it dosen't make a difference. Can you help at all? BigHairRef | Talk 15:48, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
- I've already tried both of those but I'm still just getting a working in the background symbol and then nothing happening even after a few minutes. I'm on IE7 and Vista could that have anything to do with it? The programme is allowed acces thorugh the firewall so that's not a problem. BigHairRef | Talk 15:53, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

New pages.
I checked for some new pages I had done recently and could not find them. I then found out that it could take 4-6 weeks before the search engine is updated so it could be into October before they appear. I hope to complete most of these pages in the next few weeks, editing the existing pages I had started (research does take time) so they'd be on show immediately instead of waiting so long for them. If the pages are deleted I trust it will be OK to do them again when I am ready? Neufen01.

How is changing Australia to australia, vandalism?
- Because Australia is supposed to be capitalized. Changing the capitalization of proper nouns to common nouns is vandalism. --GVOLTT 18:47, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
Welcoming
Before you welcome new users, you should make sure that they have actually made at least one valid edit. DS 22:04, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

I have read the five pillars of wisdom and have to admit to not being a lot wiser. I am creating facts and information which I think will be helpful to potentially millions of comic and pulp collectors worldwide now and in time to come. I did try to run before I could walk here as articles took much longer than I thought they would and am still learning.Neufen01 18:14, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

I now have a more realistic schedule on articles though the Blue Ribbon article I am doing is a bit of a nightmare on detail so I rest from it by writing elsewhere. I am now generally finishing (other) articles I write on the same day.Neufen01 18:34, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

Please look at my edit carefully. I didn't add any nonsense to the page on the Avatar episode of the The Serpent's Pass. I did change some of the wording and fixed the spelling, but overall, I did not vastly change the content. 24.84.0.4 18:46, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
Edit war
Hi, Can you help? I have a problem with a user who is reversing my edits. I am new to wiki, but I know my information is accurate, yet he keeps reverting because he doesn't seem to want to admit he is wrong. 82.153.175.76 19:01, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
- I've been reverting edits to Kiss FM articles because the changes were originally (and still are) un-sourced and based on the user above's opinion. They have not maintained civility when leaving edit notes or talk page messages, and the move to a fresh Login name seems to suggest they are trying to dodge warnings. --Sagaciousuk (talk) 19:05, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for looking into things in more detail. As far as I was concerned, the station was still broadcasting to Ayr, Scotland - having just been rebranded from Vibe 105-108 to Kiss 105-108. In the end, I got dragged into somekind of retaliation attack from the other user who disagreed with me and what the original article stated. I was aware of the takeover, due to knowing someone at the station anyway.
- Thanks for your help in resolving this matter :) --Sagaciousuk (talk) 21:36, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
- Hi both of you. I can't be arsed to eidt it agian - leave it as it is if you like, despite it being inaccurate. The digitalradionow website is severly out of date. I have been to Kilmarnock recently, and I can confirm there is no Vibe FM listed. Also, if you don't want to take my word for it, try the following site. It is kept upto date, and lists all UK digital multiplexes. If thats not enough, please feel free to visit Ayrshire, where you to and try listening to Vibe FM/Kiss 105-108 (And failing). Kiss 100 is the only Kiss station on the multiplex. No wonder wiki has had such bad press about inaccuracies! When you find the truth, I'll only be too happy to accept your apologies. —Preceding unsigned comment added by vibeone (talk • contribs)
- Thanks for the note on my talk page. I have another source here: http://www.oneradiodab.com/Ayr.htm This is the multiplex operators site. I will state that this is a pretty poor secondary source, and I will be looking for a better one asap. By the way, its the Kiss logo that is important, this is the original logo of Kiss 100, the station which I said replaced Vibe. I apologise for my perhaps rudeness. Its just very frustrating when I know something is listed wrongly! I also apologise for not signing properly - I'm new to this wiki stuff!

- Further to this, please follow this link... which gives a date when Vibe ceased. This is NOT connected with the recent rebrand, and has a date in 2005. The link is.. http://66.249.93.104/search?q=cache:EBb6WxEMQn0J:www.wohnort.demon.co.uk/DAB/archives05.html+vibe+kiss+score+ayr&hl=en&gl=uk&ct=clnk&cd=2
which quotes "October 24th - A new Service has popped up on Score Ayr. KISS is running at 128 kbit/s. The Service Vibe FM has ceased."

Vandalism Error
I did not vandalise, they are promoting that singer over the others- that's not allowed. Advertising is NOT allowed, what I wrote was truth.
You made a mistake I did not vanadalise a page, they were advertising her. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.168.7.7 (talk • contribs)
Characters in the Keys to the Kingdom
Thank you for your contributions to Characters of The Keys to the Kingdom series. Unfourtantley, the information you added has already been removed several times from the page due to the fact that it is speculation. Trust me, you aren't the first one with good intentions to add the info that you added. We are just trying to keep any unsourced speculation out of that page. If you find a source that gives the same or relatively same presumptions, such as a literary magazine, you are welcome to add it. Until then, please refrain from adding the information on the remaining Morrow Days' sin's. Thanks again. --kralahome 01:43, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
Vandalism? I fear not.
I am a student of Edward Steinberg's, and am upset that my changes were considered vandalistic. I did reword some sentences to make them mildly humorous, but it was in good faith and it is the prerogative of posterity to rewrite history. Another quote from Steinberg. The changes in quotes are accurate, omitted from the first versions of the site precisely for fear of this backlash, but the truth must find a way to emerge.
Many thanks,
Julian Izzo.
Thanks
For reverting vandalism to my user page. MER-C 11:04, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
Simple question
Why were the edits on http://en.wiki.x.io/w/index.php?title=Dynamo_%28The_Running_Man%29&diff=72810140&oldid=72810022 reverted? I am new to Wikipedia and would appreciate knowing why. Pienamo 13:12, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
thanks for your message on my talk page ;)
- Thanks for your reply. We made some significant changes to the page today, hopefully it's much better. Pienamo 17:59, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
