Talk:Territorial control during the Russo-Ukrainian War

Krasnohorivka

edit

On the map, Krasnohorivka should be shown as mostly captured (red circle with a spinning icon in the top left, similar to Toretsk or Selydove currently).

Vyimka

edit

Vyimka is captured according to Russian MOD: "Russia says it has captured two more settlements in east Ukraine". Reuters.

Yes, and that's what they claim; it's not yet confirmed by any reliable source. Flemmish Nietzsche (talk) 17:37, 2 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Kursk Oblast

edit

Kurchatov and the KNPP are missing from the territorial control list and the detailed map. They, together with Lgov and Rylsk, were seemingly the end goals for the Kursk offensive.

Further more, Belaya and Bolshoye Soldatskoye are on the list, but not on the map. Adding them would make the approximate extent of the Sudzha salient/incursion more visible.

Toretsk urban hromada

edit
  • The capture of Pivdenne is missing from the timeline. I'd suggest going with the Russian date, as there is no alternative Ukrainian date. The "confirmed capture" date is just ISW admitting it was captured, not when.
  • The capture of Zalizne is also missing from the timeline. I'd again suggest going with the Russian date, as there is no alternative Ukrainian date. The "confirmed capture" date is just ISW admitting it was captured, not when.
  • Pivnichne is claimed captured since at least 31 August 2024: "7 killed by Russian attacks as Moscow pushes ahead in Ukraine's east". AP News.

I agree with all 3 suggestions. Asigooo (talk) 22:31, 10 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

About Timeline of total controlled territory section - Crimea

edit

I think it'd be better if u stated that "territory" in this part includes crimea, since crimea is seen autonomous by some people. Asigooo (talk) 21:32, 17 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Verkhniokamianske

edit

Claimed captured by russian MoD 2 days ago Asigooo (talk) 10:43, 4 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Updated. Flemmish Nietzsche (talk) 23:00, 4 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
This has most likely been a lie made by the local commanders, because Rybar disputed the capture.
Link to their Telegram post: https://t.me/rybar/64284
The German Focus online has been the only newspaper I know that has covered this:
"Russische Militärblogger decken Lügen auf, die viele Soldaten das Leben kosten". FOCUS online. [According to British military historian Chris Owen, the military bloggers claim that a few days ago, Russian Telegram channels reported that areas in the Siversk region were being conquered. These included the villages of Hryhorivka and Verkhnokamianske. The troops had advanced as far as Serebrianka, it said. A false report. The military blogger ‘Militärinformant’ writes: ‘The commanders have labelled conquests where there were no successes by the Russian army. Their aim was to announce victories in the media and send success stories to their superiors.’]
Zirkusradler (talk) 16:26, 28 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
It appears to have been false, yes, but the source used (ISW) maintained that the village had been captured despite reports otherwise from milbloggers. Flemmish Nietzsche (talk) 16:54, 28 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, because of the flag that was apparently drone-dropped.
The ISW is not very reliable, it just repeats claims from Telegram channels, but somehow it's considered a WP:RS and Telegram channels are not. Zirkusradler (talk) 17:36, 28 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I agree with @Zirkusradler Village is not under RF control. Asigooo (talk) 10:27, 1 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Trivia

edit

Stelmakhivka was a recapture. Please adjust this as well.

Nevske has been recently renamed to Balka Zhuravka. Since this was an in-war rename and Russia doesn't recognize Ukrainian renames, I don't think it matters.

Nevske and Zolota Nyva are also not present in the Donetsk Oblast table.

On the map, the dot for Levadne is way too big. This hamlet with one guy pre-war population should have the smallest dot possible.

Cheers. Zirkusradler (talk) 15:38, 28 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Most of these have been fixed. I can add Levadne and Zolota Nyva to the table sometime if you think it's a pressing issue, though adding a settlement with one person to the table seems a bit excessive. Flemmish Nietzsche (talk) 02:59, 31 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you.
I agree, they are not important. Though Levadne is "one of the 14" and is already present in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast table and the timeline as a Ukrainian capture.
Unrelated: Could you also remove the "likely" from the recapture of Staromaiorske in the timeline? The capture has been confirmed since a while and near-captures shouldn't be in the timeline IMO anyway. Zirkusradler (talk) 11:39, 31 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

The longitude of Metiolkine in Luhansk is wrong. { lat = "48.930", long = "39.550", mark = "Location dot red.svg", marksize = 6, label = "Metiolkine", link = "Territorial control during the Russo-Ukrainian War#Metiolkine", label_size = 50},

It should be changed to: { lat = "48.930", long = "38.550", mark = "Location dot red.svg", marksize = 4, label = "Metiolkine", link = "Territorial control during the Russo-Ukrainian War#Metiolkine", label_size = 0}, 帕迪沙 (talk) 09:41, 16 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
