No small version

edit

This needs an inlinea small version. Otherwise it should be be entirely noincluded--Doug.(talk contribs) 08:42, 13 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Done - well partially, I've made one but it currently has issues with the links it creates back to the discussion.--Doug.(talk contribs) 09:09, 13 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
I've removed it entirely for the mainspace, as it is an eyesore that runs afoul of WP:NAVEL. Magog the Ogre (talk) 11:00, 13 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

{{editprotected}} Please revert this series of changes [1] and unprotect this template. There has been no discussion for this change to prevent the display of the small notice in mainspace (a la {{tfd}}) and as a transitional template which is transcluded on an infrequent basis, it does not require full protection per Wikipedia:High-risk templates and Wikipedia:Protection policy. --Tothwolf (talk) 15:37, 13 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

14K transclusions, mostly in the mainspace? I think it needs full protection. Magog the Ogre (talk) 15:53, 13 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
And the discussion was immediately above. Magog the Ogre (talk) 15:54, 13 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
One comment made by someone in November 2009 does not count as "discussion", and that comment was related to creating the small display version, not removing it. --Tothwolf (talk) 16:01, 13 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Reverted by WP:BRD. Magog: if you make a bold edit to a protected page, you should immediately revert on request. Having said this I can understand the reasons behind the edit. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 16:58, 13 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Removed #ifexist and default to the currentdate

edit

I have removed the #ifexist as we only use for discussion, this was only useful for a few days and clutters the code. Also, use of the current date's log as a default is of little value, the date that {{Being deleted}} is added will never (except in rare speedy close as delete decisions) be the page on which the discussion exists and then only for one day. I removed the currentdate as a default parameter and defaulted to simply bold text with no link. The only meaningful alternative would be to link it to the TFD main page and that is only two words further on.--Doug.(talk contribs) 12:55, 13 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • I was wrong, there is a large list of a single template out there that is still from the for deletion days. I've restored that part of the code and added it to the miniature version that now transcludes through to the target pages. Tested and it seems to work for all instances that I can easily create.--Doug.(talk contribs) 21:15, 13 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • BTW, the default to the currentdate still appears unnecessary and pointless but I have left it for now rather than mess with the code further tonight. I thought it better just to copy back the old code for now.--Doug.(talk contribs) 21:17, 13 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

More extraneous code

edit

I've removed one {{ucfirst:}} as unnecessary as well as the <br clear/> as a relic from when the documentation was on the same page.--Doug.(talk contribs) 17:41, 13 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Category:Templates_for_deletion

edit

Should this categorize into Category:Templates_for_deletion as it currently does? It messes a little bit with WP:AAlerts, but that can survive either way. I'm asking because it seems tagged templates aren't exactly for discussion anymore, rather waiting for some work to be done before getting nicked. —  HELLKNOWZ  ▎TALK 19:43, 6 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Template-protected edit request on 27 January 2014

edit

I've made a small tweak to the wording to make it more immediately obvious where to click to get to the relevant discussion; see this sandbox diff and the testcases page.
