Alternate Ending
editMarginbuu, I'm not going to bother getting into some kind of edit war with you regarding your assertion that the alternate ending, which by all written acounts I've found was unfilmed, was available to British viewers, but could you please find some citation so that it's not just you saying that you've seen an alternate version? -Fuzzy (talk) 12:51, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
Ray Milland
editLater in life, Ray Milland was said to have regarded this film as second only to "Lost Weekend" in terms of his performance, and that these two films were the ones of which he was most proud. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.12.192.73 (talk) 23:35, 15 April 2011 (UTC)
Ending
edit"Xavier chooses to blind himself rather than see anything more." -- Does the movie actually show this, or is it simply strongly implied? I saw the movie a couple of days ago and don't remember his actually removing his eyes. 64.53.191.77 (talk) 14:20, 18 May 2016 (UTC)
- The film is available for free at this link, so I just watched the ending again. Milland's eyes are deep black as the scene progresses, and when the preacher quotes, "...pluck it out", Milland repeats the quote as if it were inspiring. Then his hands cover his eyes as his head plunges downward, then lifts back upward into camera range. For a brief moment Milland's face is seen and his eyes are no longer black – they are blood-red. I'd say that's a very strong implication that the character has indeed plucked out his eyes. OUR Wikipedia (not "mine")! Paine 09:20, 4 June 2016 (UTC)

Did it inspire the creation of Cyclops from X-Men?
editWas the creator of Cyclops of X-Men inspired by this movie? 93.144.189.243 (talk) 20:11, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
- The X-Men comic book was published first, so the film wouldn't have influenced the character's creation. There doesn't seem to be anything on Google, either, but you could look for interviews with Stan Lee. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 03:47, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
