Source for estimate
editThere is no source for this estimate about numbers of wolves poisoned by bounty hunters: "It is estimated that by the 1870s, this method was killing 100,000 wolves annually." I can't find a source to substantiate this estimate, but I did find this from historian Michael Wise: "Between 1871 and 1875, wolfers killed around thirty-four thousand wolves in northern Montana and southern Alberta alone." I'm going replace the unsourced estimate. If anyone disagrees and can find a source, I'll be happy to revert.

Citations in terrible need of verification
editOut of the 100 references cited, at least 30 are currently dead links (404, or links to pages that have since changed). Many others are links to hunting tour operations or wolf conservation organizations, both of which may be potentially biased sources. If this article is to be taken seriously, it needs more neutral, verifiable sourcing. --Animalparty-- (talk) 07:18, 16 January 2014 (UTC)
I also noticed this issue. When clicking on some of the sources the page leads you to a business website which raises the question of bias immediately. It does not seem like a reliable source to get the information from when the website is trying to make money. It seems misleading to not mention in the article that the source of the info is from groups against the human hunting of wolf packs. Wiki Education assignment: Introduction to Policy Analysis
editThis article was the subject of a Wiki Education Foundation-supported course assignment, between 28 March 2022 and 30 May 2022. Further details are available on the course page. Student editor(s): KombuchaGod, Alinadro, Blibraty (article contribs). Peer reviewers: Blibraty. — Assignment last updated by Jun3038 (talk) 09:38, 19 May 2022 (UTC)
History: North America
editFootnote 37, uses an article "Were Native People Keystone Predators? A Continuous-Time Analysis of Wildlife Observations Made by Lewis and Clark in 1804-1806" [1]to cite the claim that historically in North America wolves were found seldom outside aboriginal buffer zones. The cited article however does not make such a claim, it concludes that Grey wolves were observed in areas with larger game populations, and aboriginal buffer zones, where Native Americans did not hunt game, had larger game populations. I think that either the sentence should be removed or rewritten with correct information. KombuchaGod (talk) 19:26, 24 April 2022 (UTC)
Missing from this subsection is the reintroduction of Gray Wolves in Yellowstone National Park in the late 1900s to repopulate North Americas wolf population after near extinction caused by over-hunting. [2]
KombuchaGod (talk) 19:57, 24 April 2022 (UTC)
I noticed that the gallery of all the depiction of wolf images are only from history. It would be helpful I think to include more modern-day images and depictions of wolves and people hunting them to give the audience a better perspective of what it looks like today. Current Situation: North America
editFootnote 65, Article cited is from an unreliable source and section should be updated with current federal and state standings on wolf hunting regulations. KombuchaGod (talk) 19:42, 24 April 2022 (UTC)
I found that there are outdated numbers and facts in the very beginning of the section. For example, the last number fact was from 2007 which was 15 years ago. There is a solid chance that the numbers have been updated so it would be helpful to use a more up-to date version. Wolf Hunting (Citations Issues)
editOverall, the article is neutral, and there were no claims or frames that appeared biased toward a particular position. However, I checked a few citations. There were links that didn't work (404 error). Below are two links that didn't work
"A geographical perspective on the decline and extermination of the Irish wolf Canis lupus" (PDF). Kieran R. Hickey. Department of Geography, National University of Ireland, Galway. Retrieved 2007-09-12.Cite error: There are<ref>

Wolf Hunting (Information Needed)
editThe section called "Hunting with Dogs" is underrepresented and should be more elaborated. Adding more information (details) about hunting with dogs would be helpful. Information about wolf hunting regulations (in different counties) and examples of policies should be added. Alinadro (talk) 22:51, 28 April 2022 (UTC)
