Seacats
editGot to disagree on the Seacat, Eskimo, seen in the cover photo has it, so does Nubian and Tartar seen in many photos on other sites. I am fairly sure the whole class was fitted.
- I'll look into this, you are indeed right. Emoscopes 00:27, 13 December 2005 (UTC)
Seems a shame not to be able to use this quote
edit"Note - When Ashanti arrived on station, an Icelandic gunboat took a look from 10 miles away, turned away, and none were seen again for the whole duration of its stay. We concluded on the bridge, that this was because we had a gun at either end, thus preventing any gunboat from having a free ram from the sides or rear, as was the case with other marks of frigate."
But I couldn't leave it in the text as it stood. GraemeLeggett 16:43, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
Ships of the class
editThis article needs a list of the member ships of the class. --WeeWillieWiki (talk) 01:27, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
Disregard last post. I've added the information myself. --WeeWillieWiki (talk) 03:48, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
Speed
editTexts on speed seem confusing, but I do not have the necessary refs:
- lead:
limited by their single propeller and low speed of 24 knots
- no mention in the article itself
- class infobox:
27 knots
- HMS Zulu and some others (remainder lack specific mention in article itself):
geared steam turbine rated at 12,500 shp (9,300 kW), which could be supplemented by a Metrovick G-6 gas turbine rated at 7,500 shp (5,600 kW) to reach top speed, with the gas turbine also allowing the ship to get underway quickly in an emergency, without having to wait to raise steam. Speed was about 27–28 kn (31–32 mph; 50–52 km/h) using both steam and gas turbine power, and 21 kn (24 mph; 39 km/h) on steam power alone.
- all ship infoboxes:
27 knots
