Concerns about connected contributors' editing
edit@Jessicapierce and ~riley: I see that you have tackled some of the above users and reverted their problematic contributions in this article.
2120Music has made substantial changes to the article in February 2021 in a similar vein (see here). Both User2 and User3 claim to work for Catherine Wearne. Wearne was lead vocalist of the group when it was formed in 1988 according to independent reliable source Encyclopedia of Australian Rock and Pop (see "The Happening Thang" entry) by Ian McFarlane. The current article has formation occurring in 1984, instead. This is not supported by any IRS. User3 cites emails by Wearne, which verify these changes. Without seeing these emails one cannot determine how independent or reliable they are.
Furthermore, see diff, by User3, which has the edit summary: Removed spelling mistakes etc. and is claimed to be a minor edit. However, it removes a contemporaneous review of the group's performance from 1989 by The Canberra Times journalist Kathryn Whitfield. This is not a minor edit and not just a spelling mistake was removed.
I request your opinion on what should be done to address these issues.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 10:22, 3 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, changes to the Happening Thang page by 2120 Music were at the direction of Catherine Wearne and their publicist Stuart Coupe using source documents and links provided. Where should I send the PDFs of these docs? 2120Music (talk) 17:18, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
- You haven't addressed the issue of your removal of sourced material, which provided a contemporaneous review of the group from 1989. Furthermore, why did you use a deceptive edit summary, "Removed spelling mistakes etc" and classify this edit as a minor one? shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 01:56, 5 May 2024 (UTC)01:58, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
- You claim to edit here "at the direction of Catherine Wearne" and their publicist hence you should supply appropriate connected contributor templates (see Template:Connected contributor) on your User page and explain your relationship as to whether you are being paid to contribute or not. As indicated above, you should familiarise yourself with wikipedia's relevant guidelines and policies. shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 02:08, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
