editHi @Bearcat,
I understand that you deleted some of the categories because you used only the most specific ones only. It is like this in Wikipedia.fr but I followed examples on Wikipedia.org that would list all of the categories and parent ones.
I suppose you deleted the live coding category because it should apply to a work, or an event and not a person. I would agree but there is no live coder category or equivalent that I can find and, more importantly, nearly all entries in this category are people. I would think the right way to do it would be to have a live coder category and move people into that category. I never made a new category so I'd have to look into that. But, for the time being, I added the live coding category to the article. Have a good day Bob Lee 9399 (talk) 17:30, 13 March 2023 (UTC)
- We categorize people as thingists, not as thingisms — the relationship between a biographical article and its appropriate categories always needs to be expressible as "[Subject] is a(n) [Category]", and a category is either incorrect, or valid but incorrectly named, if you have to insert even one additional word between the indefinite article and the category name to make a coherent expression. That is, we categorize people as artists, not as art, and we categorize people as journalists, not as journalism, and the lack of a dedicated special category for entrepreneurs per se (we just categorize them as businesspeople) doesn't mean that individual entrepreneurs should be categorized as entrepreneurship. Either the relationship is literally encapsulated by a form of the verb "to be" all by itself, or the category is inherently incorrect in some way. Bearcat (talk) 19:05, 13 March 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for the explanation. I don't think I am allowed to add or modify categories because I am a new user. I would suggest to have a live coder category, moving most entries that are people from the live coding category to the live coder and leaving in the live coding category the couple of events and platforms that should actually be there. Do you know where I should suggest this changes? Music portal maybe? Thank you Bob Lee 9399 (talk) 15:46, 20 March 2023 (UTC)
