It's hardly a reliable source, but the Latin Wikipedia has la:Suessa Pometia as a redirect to la:Pometia. The German Wikipedia says "Der Name Pomezia leitet sich von der antiken Stadt Suessa Pometia her, die nach Plinius zu Beginn des 4. Jahrhunderts v. Chr. von den Volskern zerstört wurde. Diese gab auch der Tribus Pomptina den Namen. Es ist nicht gesichert ob Suessa Pometia tatsächlich im Gemeindegebiet lag." (you can translate using Google Translate).
