What is the prevalent reference for "overnight"?

edit

The definition of the term itself, "overnight", per the Wiktionary, seems the most appropriate to me. Another editor disagrees and chooses a 2003 documentary that goes by that title. I do not understand at all how a rather obscure documentary can be the primary meaning of the word "overnight"! In banking, for instance (to offer but one example), the term is used incessantly in reference to interest rates. Can we claim that more people looking in Wikipedia for information about the "overnight" documentary rather than the financial term? -The Gnome (talk) 00:12, 28 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia is not wiktionary and generally does not have articles about words. The purpose of disambiguation pages is to help readers navigate ambiguously titled articles. At present there is only one article that is exactly titled "Overnight". The disambiguation page lists a couple of partial title matches that might be ambiguous is some contexts. You can propose a requested move to get other opinions. BTW, page traffic statistics for the film are fairly consistent as are those for Interbank lending market and while the latter has somewhat higher volume, it is at best a partial title match. The disambiguation page shows a fairly consistent low volume of traffic indicating few readers arrive at the film and choose the disambiguation page in the hatnote because they were looking for something else. olderwiser 00:19, 28 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

The result of the move request was: not moved. Also a consensus that the film should not have been moved, I'll move it back. Jenks24 (talk) 06:52, 15 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Overnight (disambiguation)OvernightOvernight should be a disambiguation page. The page currently redirects to Overnight (film), which is not a WP:PRIMARYTOPIC and is inappropriate in most cases. Christiancardenas732 (talk) 00:57, 6 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

– No clear primary topic, the 2015 film has 2,184 views, the album has 78, the 1985 film has 45 and the Bee Gees song has 8 compared with only 2,152 for the 2003 film. Overnight rate has 856 and Overnight market has 806[[1]]. Google and Images return other things while Books mainly returns the 2015 film. Crouch, Swale (talk) 16:59, 19 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
