Renaming article

edit

Should this article be renamed "NER Class D (1913 locomotive)" or something similar due to the existance of an older 2-4-0 engine of the same name? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lukeno94 (talkcontribs) 10:41, 25 April 2011

Is there an article on the other class? WP:SHIPS convention is a disambigator by year of launch. Applying thate here would give NER Class D (1913), with the current title becoming a dab page. Mjroots (talk) 11:52, 25 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
There is no existing article, and I don't think there is a need for a separate article for the T.W. Worsdell class D, because their time as compound 2-4-0s was comparatively brief, so they only need to be a subsection in the NER Class F article. More specifically, the two Class D locomotives (no. 1324 of 1886 and no. 340 of 1888) were built as compound 2-4-0 but rebuilt in 1896 by Wilson Worsdell as simple 4-4-0s generally uniform with NER Class F1 and then considered to be part of that class; and in this form they lasted until 1930 and 1933 respectively: that is, 10 & 8 years as class D, 34 and 37 years as class F1/F (in 1914 all the F1 locos (including the two former class D locos) were reclassified, becoming Class F). --Redrose64 (talk) 21:30, 25 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
