Giant Slalom 1960 Olympic Winter Games
- — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.225.11.90 (talk) 18:08, 31 December 2016 (UTC)
Giant Slalom at 1960 Winter Olympics and the Gold medal in 1964 Winter Olympics
editThe giant slalom on February 21st, he was at first proclaimed as the winner in 1:48.7 minutes, before the clocked time of Roger Staub was corrected to 1.48.3 minutes.
- Before being nominated for the Special Slalom on 1964 Winter Olympics, the Austrian Ski Federation did set qualification runs. It was told that Team Officials did prefer nomination of downhill-winner Egon Zimmermann but Stiegler was the better one. Stiegler's father was a bus driver of a public service vehicle on the routing from Lienz in the East Tyrol to Heiligenblut in the neighbouring province Carinthia. Because there was need of bus drivers for shuttle service from the inner city of Innsbruck to the Lizum and other scenes of the Winter Olympics he wanted to be assigned to that job. In so doing he was near of his son and the "golden run". 213.225.11.90 (talk) 18:35, 31 December 2016 (UTC)
