Jidwaaq
editJidwaaq is the largest clan of the somali Ethiopia .Jidwaaq(Abaskuul, Bartire & Yabaree) is Ogaden brother so called Abasame- Darood. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.20.173.68 (talk) 22:42, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
- Correction
- Dear brother information is a power when it is real/reality of the ground
- When I comes to my target the statement you said " Jidwaaq is the largest clan of the somali Ethiopia " it is wrong for little bit,
- ✅ABSAME( Ogaden+ Jidwaaq) is the Largest somali clan in Ethiopia. Tiger Tirig (talk) 15:19, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
User Middayexpress can you coming please, i think we are having big problem here, i don't understand why you are editwaring. i looked some of your contributions to other ethiopian and somali pages, from my point of view most of your contributions to those pages are biased, disputed or not up to date
for example jigjiga zone and 5 other regions were all renamed by the government, i put enough somali and english sources. but you are not accepting, why? remember jigjiga city, jigjiga woreda and jigjiga zone are three different adminstrative divissions. the government changed jigjiga zone (not the city and the district) to faafan. because faafan is more inclusive and not confusing. may be you confused too i dont know. Jikaar (talk) 19:44, 16 August 2014 (UTC)
- I invite you to produce for the first time an Ethiopian government link (not an unofficial link) indicating that it has officially changed the zone's name. This shouldn't be difficult for you to do since you claim to be a government employee. Here's a recent paper from the governmental Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research that explicitly describes the area as "Jijiga" [1]. Also, please try and understand that Ethiopia is like any other country. One can't just go around changing top-level, official administrative names without a government source. Try changing New York City to the "Big Apple" (it's other, informal name), the effect will be the same. Middayexpress (talk) 23:14, 16 August 2014 (UTC)
- Comment:@Jikaar: your claims are unverifiable, ilegitimate and unacceptable. First of all, you need to tender an unreserved apology to the user you accused of WP:Edit warring, WP:Tendentious editing and WP:BIAS. Unsourced or poorly sourced controversial content/info are likely to be challenged or removed by any Good faith editor. You need to justify your claims with references from reliable sources (Official Source in this case that confirmed jigjiga zone). You must be careful in adding unsourced informations to wikipedia, as this have serious implication on the reliabilty and integrity of the project. However, I expect you to tender your apology to him before any further edit. Wikicology (talk) 23:59, 16 August 2014 (UTC)
This is page is open for talk, and we are in the middle of solving the problem. mentioning his other bad edits is not direct accusation, how ever i have strong evidence that my verssion if accurate, well sourced and reliable. his link is 2012 and i made it clear in my edit summaries that the change was implemented in 2013.
here is my best reference, its recent documents that clearly states that changes have been made.
"Cumulative rain so far has been below average in Awsi (formerly Zone 1) and eastern part Kilbati (formerly Zone 2) Zones in Afar Region and in Sitti (formerly Shinile) and Fafan (formerly Jijiga) Zones in northern Somali Region"
its under this section
( Areas of Concern Northern pastoral and agropastoral areas in Afar and northern Somali Region CURRENT SITUATION)
It was hard to get official english written documents, as its not the offcial language of the country. i have dozens of Somaliand Amharic version official documents. but he does not know the language. its crazy when he is behaving like he own the page. he even never explained the reason why he is reverting. i could not understand his missing or very very short (none sense edit summaries) . — Preceding unsigned somment added by Jikaar (talk • contribs) 02:57, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
You don't know anything about me let alone my gender, "newbie"; so I strongly suggest for your own good to take Wikicology's advice and refrain from the snide personal remarks. That said, here's yet another Ethiopian government link on the actual official zones in the region ("Afder, Degehabur, Fik, Gode, Jijiga, Korahe, Liben, Shinile and Warder zones in Somali region" [3]). It's from this year and is official, unlike all of your links. I asked you to produce for the first time an Ethiopian government link (not an unofficial link) indicating that it has officially changed the zone's name. It seems that you are unable to do this, which suggests that a) the Ethiopian government has indeed not officially changed the zone's name from "Jijiga" to its informal alternative "Fafan", and b) you indeed are not an Ethiopian government representative as you rather absurdly claimed to be. Middayexpress (talk) 14:41, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for sharing this "Ethiopian government
link" [4]). If you read in the middle of PAGE 7 the same document says.
" The performance of karan /karma rains in Fafan and Sitti zones was also normal in terms of amount and distribution "
by the way the data is based on 2013 according to the paragraph you quoted from . and its a joint UN/ethiopia program. trust me 6 out 9 somali region Zones have been renamed in december 2012, in fact Three of the new names are mentioned in this same document.
NOGOB ex.fik (page 15) SITTI ex.shinile (Page 35) and FAFAN ex.jigjiga (Page 7). i know a lot about my region, dont waste your time on something you are not sure or now nothing about unless you have unhealthy Agenda. wekipedia is all about contributing what you know, 1 good edit is better than 1000 biased or incorrect edits.

- It's doubtful that you're from the Jijiga area given your repeated attempts to change the zone's bordering nation from Somalia to Somalia's constituent Somaliland region. That is most certainly not the "right border", as you claimed in an edit summary. At any rate, the Ethiopian government link does not indicate that the "Jijiga zone" had its name changed to "Fafan zone", let alone in 2013. What it does is mention separately a "Jijiga zone" in addition to a "Fafan zone"; these could be mutually exclusive zones for all the average reader knows. Only the Somali blog link appears to note such a name change, but it's not a government source [5]. That said, I've found a U.S. government link that notes the official name changes in the Jijiga, Warder and Degahabur zones [6], and adjusted the entry accordingly. I've also corrected the zone's actual bordering nation, Somalia. Peace indeed. Middayexpress (talk) 15:24, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
- whats doubtful, Do you mean fafan (jigjiga zone) has no borders with somaliland ? if you can read somali you should not waste our time for searching foreign language documents , what makes US government links special over local news sites. by the way thanks for the ceasefire, can we please use the number of woredas(districts) in each zone. instead of using cities. for example you put harte shekh which is big city in fafan zone but its good if we put qabribayax, because hartesheikh is not woreda its a city in qabribayax woreda. its more informative if we use woredas only instead of cities in all zones. thank you.Jikaar (talk) 17:37, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
- Changing the zone's bordering nation from Somalia to Somalia's constituent Somaliland region is not neutral. It's secessionist pov, which, as I'm sure you're already aware, is not allowed (see WP:NOTADVOCATE). Middayexpress (talk) 18:19, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
- that was not the core of our dispute, somaliland name was just part of my edition, when ever you undo the whole thing i have to reset the whole thing again !, yes i am well aware of the situation but in jigjiga we dont generally mix the two sides. somaliland secessionist and pansomalism point of views is the same WP:NOTADVOCATE, compare the two we dont like any thing to do with pansomalism in ethiopia. UBO aka onlf rebels are funded and led by pansomalia patriots which is effecting our internal security.having said that i dont care if you put somalia or somaliland on our north and east borders. Jikaar (talk) 16:19, 21 August 2014 (UTC)
- WP:NOTADVOCATE applies to tiny minority views, not to legal fact. It is not advocacy to point out that Somaliland is an autonomous region of Somalia. This is because the territory is legally within the internationally recognized borders of the Federal Republic of Somalia, its airspace is likewise legally Somalia's airspace, and its exclusive economic zone is in turn legally Somalia's exclusive economic zone. Sorry to interrupt this feud, but
editCan anyone provide a date that the Jijiga Zone was renamed Fafan? Late 2013? Early 2014? (A quick Google search failed to uncover this information, which makes me wonder if Google indexes African news sources like the Ethiopian News Agency.) -- llywrch (talk) 17:53, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
- One U.S. government agency paper describes Jijiga as the "former" name for Fafan; so the zone's name probably was changed at some point. When exactly this happened is uncertain since the Ethiopian government doesn't appear to have made any official announcement of such a name change. Middayexpress (talk) 18:19, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
- jigjiga zone and 5 other somali kilil zones were renamed by the Somali kilil parliament during their 5th session, that was late 2012. Jikaar (talk) 15:34, 21 August 2014 (UTC)
- Perhaps, but the Ethiopian government doesn't appear to have announced the zone name change. Middayexpress (talk) 16:32, 21 August 2014 (UTC)
