"On 26 December 2005, China Daily reported that Zhang Beichuan, China's foremost expert on homosexuality estimated, according to statistics, that the number of gays in the Peoples' Republic was between 39 and 52 million, or 3 to 4 percent of the population.[3]

Figures in Singapore may be broadly similar." -Citation needed! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.74.187.52 (talk) 15:10, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

3 to 4 % sounds very low, statistics are not a particularly reliable method for measuring such things because most people tend not to be very honest. A more accurate figure /estimate for humanity across all races and creeds is that it varies between 0% and 30% to 50% gay naturally. Today most (ie all) people are exposed to heavy cultural and social imprinting and other factors that make any attempt at direct analysis very difficult. (It is speculation and O.R. but genetic/evolutionary analysis suggests that in overpopulated societies like China, Singapore, or the UK, etc that we should expect the number of gays to rise to as much as 90%).
