proper noun vs. generic

edit

I see the term eco-marathon being used more and more outside of the Shell Eco-Maraton competition. The generic term should probably be here at eco-marathon and the Shell competition should probably be at Eco-Marathon or, as it was before, at Shell_Eco-Marathon_competition (IanOsgood moved it- see below. --Treekids (talk) 23:40, 13 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

weaknesses + dup

edit

Here are some weaknesses I perceive in the article:

  • The list of competing teams should be significantly expanded
  • I'd like to know which team set the record of 12,665 MPG - Microjoule i thnk as they won they often have very high MPG

These two pages report on exactly the same topic, but have different names.

  1. Which is the better name?
  2. What is the best way to combine the strengths of each article without reduncy ?

See: http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Shell_Eco-Marathon_competition

Done. Merged to this page, as it has more backlinks and a shorter title. --IanOsgood 17:50, 12 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

copyvio?

edit

Most of the article is reworded text from the shell website. Could probably do with a bit more revision.

example: http://www.shell.com/home/content/eco-marathon-en/sem_about/history/sem_about_history.html

Which gallons?

edit

I translated all occurrences of MPG to km/L, assuming British gallons since Shell is a Dutch/British company. But the article doesn't say. It would be nice if everything on Wikipedia were in SI units, to avoid this sort of confusion. Amrad (talk) 12:57, 24 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes, that piece of information is incredibly hard to come by. If only someone would invent a way of searching for information on the internet so that we could answer questions like this. You could call it goggle, as in binoculars. The event is run in litres, you are free to convert those any other way you like. Greg Locock (talk) 00:56, 25 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
