Region 2 censored?

edit

Does anyone know for sure if the Region 2 (U.K.) DVDs had any censored scenes?

There were certainly censored scenes in the U.K. broadcasts of the show -- for example, Giles' hotwiring of the car in Dead Man's Party was cut. (Can't encourage those juvenile delinquents!) But I'm not sure if these scenes were cut on the DVDs themselves.

If they were, than that's a difference between Region 2 and Region 4 (since the latter are certainly uncensored). — Lawrence King (talk) 06:17, 2 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I've never heard anything about them being censored, and (as UK citizen owning UK DVDs) would be shocked if they were! - Paxomen 16:27, 2 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
CENSORED!!! Are you kidding? I've got the full series on Region 2 DVD and there is parts that weren't shown on British TV, but are still on the DVD. For example- Pretty much every sex scene, Willow flaying Warren, anything that's a bit bloody (So you need to get the DVDs because it's pretty boring on TV), but the DVDs definitely show all of the above. Bubble bunny

Gotcha. So the BBC broadcasts were cut and the DVDs are not. Makes sense. — Lawrence King (talk) 01:48, 2 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

New Region 1 releases

edit

At the end of November this year there seems to be a new set of DVDs released which supposedly has better quality and possibly more bonus material. Either way, should they perhaps be mentioned in the article under differences between versions or such? - SilverSnake 00:30, 7 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Do you have any details or references? I'm curious about these DVDs (and not just because of this article!)
From what I can tell, the recording quality of the region 1 DVDs, from season three on, is close to pristine! (The region 2 and 4 quality is slightly lower due to the NTSC-to-PAL conversion, but that's unavoidable.) The quality of seasons 1 and 2 could be improved, but I thought that's because they were taped on lower quality video in the first place. — Lawrence King (talk) 03:46, 7 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Took me a little while, but now I have looked further into these new releases. My conclusion is that the re-release during 2006 is only new packaging in smaller boxes. I've found a few places that seems to support this theory, namely IMDB's DVD-list and TVShowsonDVD.com's overview of the series. Also, asking on some forums I was told that Fox has through the year also re-released X-Files with smaller packaging but otherwise changing nothing. All in all I'd say it's quite likely they've only slimmed down the boxes, but I'm not sure if my sources is good enough or even if they are if it's interesting enough to be mentioned in the article. - SilverSnake 05:15, 31 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Region 4 release actually dual region 2 & 4?

edit

I bought all the region 4 discs as they were released series by series in Australia (so I don't know if what I am about to say applies to the box set containing all seven seasons.) While the packaging and the painting on the discs says that they are region 4, I can play them in both Region 2 and Region 4 DVD-ROM drives without problems (I'm now in the UK); moreover DVD Decrypter software says that the discs are encoded for both Regions 2 and 4. So if my experience is anything to go by it would seem that the only difference between the "Region 2" (UK) and the "Region 4" (Aus) discs is the packaging (and not the regional encoding and packaging as the article suggests). Can anyone else confirm this? Has anyone bought the UK release "Region 2" discs, and are they also dual region 2 and 4 like the "Region 4" discs I bought in Australia? "Slayer Collection" featurettes

edit

Have the character profiles on "The Slayer Collection" been on any other releases before or since, or are they exclusive to these sets? Maybe something that needs to be clarified on the page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.17.53.21 (talk) 15:37, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

DVD-ROM features?

edit

I've got a Region 2 set ("The Complete DVD Collection", says (c) 2009 at the bottom of the box) and there definitely aren't any DVD-ROM features on any of the discs. Where they removed at some point? Anyone got any facts? 213.186.247.178 (talk) 20:49, 4 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
