Needs update

edit

The article cites the 2006 census, is there any newer information available? If so then the details should be updated. Regards, DPdH (talk) 04:00, 8 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Some Notes

edit

These hyphenated names are silly and it's not commonly used.

Not all Argentinians living in Australia are Australians, an Argentine Australian is either a dual citizen or an Australian that has Argentinian ancestry and also identifies as Argentinian. An Argentinian student residing in Australia to complete a university degree for example isn't an Australian.

Australia was obviously never a preferred choice for Argentinian immigrants since it constitutes a very small percentage of the one million of so Argentinians living abroad.

The reasons for immigration to Australia are broad but political turmoil in Argentina was caused by various parties, not just the military junta. Political turmoil in Argentina stretched long before the military coup of 1976. Most Argentinian immigrants are not political refugees but rather economic immigrants.

I cannot find the 2011 Census statistics for Argentinian descent so I left the reference to the 2006 statistics.

One citation is dead or broken.

I deleted the reference for White Latin Americans because that page is racist US centric rubbish. ShefRichards (talk) 10:52, 2 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
