HaGoshrim Hotel
editNone of the buildings shown in the photo of the HaGoshrim Hotel is actually the "manor house of Emir Faour of Al-Khisas". (It's pretty obvious which building is the manor, if you go to their website.) The smaller buildings were all originally kibbutz houses.--Sreifa (talk) 05:32, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
Pappe
editPappé, 2007, p. 57 writes that "Khisas was a small village with a few hundred Muslims and one hundred Christians."
I don´t think this is correct. Village Statistics April 1945, The Palestine Government p.5, says that all 470 (Arab) inhabitants were Muslim, Huldra (talk) 22:55, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Huldra,
- My mind is that Pappé is so controversial and so biased for some analysis that even for facts and even when he is right, we should not consider him as wp:rs (at least after 1995).
- Any source, even primary, would be better. Pluto2012 (talk) 05:57, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
- Well, I have removed it. In addition to the UN source, we have this original (slow!) source, which under Safad sub-district, p. 10, has Khisas (as village #39) with 60 Jews and 470 Muslims. So Pappé is obviously wrong here, Cheers, Huldra (talk) 20:56, 3 September 2015 (UTC)

Last reverse
editUser:Mlevitt1, please undo your last revert, or you might get reported. (You shouldn't be editing this article, as you have haven't had 500 edits.)
Also, though Morris say they blew up (part of?) the house, we have sources (like, say Benevenisti, p. 207) saying that the kibbutz "opened a lovely hotel in the abandoned manor house of Emir Faour [..] "in the past" states the hotel fact sheet, without elaborating, "this was the winter palace of Emir Faour"" Huldra (talk) 23:29, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
To editor Huldra: Do we have any images of the manor house? The hotel entrance view is here. The central rectangular section of large stones has an Arab style and could be old even though the hotel has expanded. Comparing it to an image of the manor house should be instructive. Zerotalk 01:25, 14 September 2018 (UTC)
- And here is a longer view showing that same central structure that does not match the modern part of the building. Zerotalk 01:41, 14 September 2018 (UTC)
There is also the question of whether "manor house" includes only the building or also the grounds surrounding it. Zerotalk 01:35, 14 September 2018 (UTC)
To editor Huldra: I have reverted as requested since I cannot find any sources to counter Benevenisti, though in fact it is clear that the modern hotel isn't "in" the manor house/winter palace but on the site of it, though perhaps incorporating some reclaimed masonry. User:Zero0000 makes excellent suggestions, but I cannot source such pictures. I cannot go further at present. But can you explain to me what you mean by "You shouldn't be editing this article, as you have had 500 edits" as I am a novice in these finer procedural points, and cannot find what you are referring to in the Help pages? Thanks. --Mlevitt1 (talk) 09:15, 14 September 2018 (UTC)
It's funny how when one gives up a breakthrough sometimes comes. First, an academic paper from 2007 states about the palace, in footnote 6 on page 4, "The building at Khisas included a western and a northern wing and a wall from the east and from the south, forming a square yard. There were two stories decorated with white and black mosaics. Today the remains are in the grounds of the Kibbutz Hagoshrim hotel. Remains include reed decorations, stairs to the second floor and the western door. Interview with Nimrod Zakai, Hagoshrim, 2 June 2004." This does not make clear however whether the remains are incorporated into the hotel. But a photo comparison (yes, User:Zero0000, I finally found one) in Haaretz is captioned, "From Left: Palace of Emir Fa'or in 1954. Hagoshrim hotel [today]." This is of course circumstantial, since it is very hard to tell from an referenced photo whether these are remains of the palace, but it certainly looks the part. On this basis, I agree the wording had best stay, although the current photo clearly doesn't show this part of the hotel, as pointed out in the HaGoshrim Hotel talk section above.--Mlevitt1 (talk) 09:45, 14 September 2018 (UTC)
- To editor Mlevitt1: That's great work, thanks. Please see your talk page regarding the rules. Zerotalk 11:44, 14 September 2018 (UTC)
- To editor Zero0000: Thanks.Mlevitt1 (talk) 14:25, 14 September 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for the pictures you have dug up! Also, the Amir Fa'our al-Fa'our article looks very interesting....alas, researchgate doesn't seem to like me...:( Huldra (talk) 20:16, 14 September 2018 (UTC)
We should compare this to the Al Fadl article: the Al-Khisas leader was from Al Fadl. See Talk:Al Fadl, Huldra (talk) 23:14, 27 February 2020 (UTC)
