Globalize/Unbalanced
editCouple of observations/issues:
- US & Canada are discussed and there are links to film/TV ratings agencies in other countries, but no discussion...
- Unbalanced:
- Going hand-in-hand with Globalize, there isn't really discussion about the vast cultural differences in age appropriateness. What is inappropriate in one country at a given age often is just fine in others. (e.g. a general example would be the difference between the USA and Germany [or many European countries, for that matter] on depictions of Sex/Nudity and Violence: in the USA violent things are typically "age appropriate" at a younger age than in Germany. The reverse for Sex/Nudity.)
- There are probably many good sources (journal articles, studies, etc.) that would provide good factual insight (obviously, my personal observations in the last point are not enough to pass WP:NOR ... )

My adaptations to this page
editI think the concept of age-appropriateness is an important concept considering child development. Therefore, it should be better developed. The first problem is with the definition. The previous definition was really vague and incomplete. Therefore, I tried to search the definition for this concept from some prominent publishers. Fortunately, I found an article with a high impact factor, summarizing its content and phrase a new definition for age-appropriateness. The second problem is that the areas of application of age-appropriateness were insufficient and underdeveloped. The previous page only introduces the consideration of age-appropriateness in toy selection and media presentations. These two areas are absolutely related to the topic but are far insufficient to reveal the importance of age appropriateness to child development. The reasons why age-appropriateness is vital in these areas were also not detailed developed. Therefore, I first found several reliable sources to improve the explanations about the application and importance of age-appropriateness in these two areas. I found that age-appropriateness is closely related to children’s cognitive, emotional, physical, and social development. Therefore, I added the other two parts, introducing the importance of entering the school at an appropriate age and developing age-appropriate social skills. These two parts are closely related to children’s academic performance and relationships with peers. The third problem is with the reference link. It previously mixed up citation and external links together, which I think is quite confusing.
