  •   Full review to follow (a preliminary DYK check seems to check out though), but I was wondering if another hook could be proposed here. The hook may not really appeal to non -fans of the AFL or those who live outside Australia. I think a more promising hook could be based on this: Melbourne, who usually play home matches at the 9,000 capacity Casey Fields oval in Cranbourne, had their home preliminary final moved to the 100,000-seat Melbourne Cricket Ground, which was the first time the Australian Football League's largest venue had hosted an AFL Women's match. One issue, of course, is that it's talking about the preliminary final (what Americans would call a semi-final) rather than the Grand Final itself. Another option could be the low attendance for that match being blamed on last-minute schedule shenanigans, though I think that would be too negative. That hook would be great except that it doesn't include this article. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 12:05, 12 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
What do you mean by "it doesn't include this article"? That the quote is about the preliminaries rather than the final? Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 12:08, 12 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
That hook doesn't contain a link to 2022 AFL Women's Grand Final, which is the article nominated for DYK. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 21:08, 12 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps wording can say something like "preliminary [final] for the 2022 AFL Women's Grand Final" or something to that effect? Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 23:34, 12 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
No, the preliminary final is a different match, with its own article. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 00:33, 28 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
I really don't think the original hook is working out so I suggest that a completely new hook be proposed. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 10:34, 29 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Jasmyn Hewett
  • ALT1: ... that the first goal of the 2022 AFL Women's Grand Final was kicked by Jasmyn Hewett (pictured), a late inclusion to the team?
Source: "The inclusion of Jasmyn Hewett as ruck cover for the suspended Montana McKinnon paid immediate dividends, taking a mark on the goal-line and converting a set shot for the opening goal, 10 minutes into the game." [1]
  Still prefer the original hook. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 21:18, 29 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
  •   The article was created on time (note that it was recently promoted to GA status and so is also eligible per that). No close paraphrasing was found and a QPQ has been done. ALT1 is better than the original hook but I think a hook about this quote Harris became the first woman to play in three grand finals playing for three different teams; all of them against Adelaide. may be the best possible option at this point. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 15:00, 30 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Substantial GA, on excellent sources, no copyvio obvious. I like the original hook best, but suggest to just turn it around, mentioning the game first. The image is licensed and attractive, much more attractive by dynamic action vs. the other, standing. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:32, 3 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
ALT3 ... that in the 2022 AFL Women's Grand Final, Tayla Harris (pictured) became the first woman to play in three different grand finals for three different teams?

This one seems more accurate than everything else proposed above. 117.97.199.77 (talk) 07:17, 5 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
The other hooks are not inaccurate. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 07:56, 5 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Requesting feedback from Gerda Arendt and Hawkeye7 regarding ALT3. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 07:33, 5 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
I'd prefer to work on new things to being called back to this. The image is not as powerful as the original, and the hook seems more about the player than the match. Perhaps someone else will approve it? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:40, 5 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
We cannot use a picture that is not in the article. It is also a dubious honour and articles and hooks that focus unduly on negative aspects of living individuals should be avoided. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 07:56, 5 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
