Proposed merger with Óscar Pérez (police)

edit

On the Óscar Pérez (police) page, a proposal was made to merge it into this page. At least at first glance, it looks like that page is a WP:FORK of this one, so I support the merger. --HighFlyingFish (talk) 08:12, 16 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

El Junquito massacre

edit

Since there's controversy about the operation in which Óscar died and some media outlets are naming the incident as the "El Junquito massacre", do you consider that there would be neutrality problems with including the name in the section or possibly creating another article?--Jamez42 (talk) 02:22, 19 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

We can report that people are calling it that, but for Wikipedia to refer to it as such would not be NPOV at this point. At some future point, if it becomes known widely by that name, then we could potentially refer to it that way, but we're not there yet. -- irn (talk) 17:32, 19 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Title - disambiguation

edit

Is using "policeman" as the disambiguation for this article correct? I don't think this guy is primarily notable for being a policeman. NickCT (talk) 20:55, 19 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

You're right that he's not known for being a policeman. Do you have a better suggestion, though? "Rebel leader" is how we describe him in the lead, but that doesn't feel neutral enough. Other languages tend to use his middle name for disambiguation. Maybe we could do that, too? -- irn (talk) 00:50, 2 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
I will change it to Óscar Alberto Pérez, which is correct, and now a redlink. Kablammo (talk) 15:29, 3 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Personal life

edit

While details of Pérez' personal life are relevant to this biographical article, those details must be cited to reliable sources. I have twice removed sources which do not stand for the text which cites those sources, and http://notitotal.com does not appear to be a reliable source by Wikipedia standards. And while Perez is no longer living, his presumed wife, and three children, are alive, so WP:BLP continues to apply. We don't use blogs, or sources that rely on Instagrams-- we need reliable, independent sources. Kablammo (talk) 00:45, 2 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
