Description
English: The U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Shangri-La (CVA-38) at sea, launching Grumman F9F-8 Cougars of Fighter Squadron 53 (VF-53) "Black Knights" on 10 January 1956. Note the steam rising from her port catapult. Shangri-La, with assigned Air Task Group 3 (ATG-3), was deployed to the Western Pacific from 5 January to 23 June 1956.
