Description
English: 'AWM Caption: Australia made its acquaintance with Japanese submarines when three of them sneaked into Sydney Harbour. Their combined efforts resulted in the sinking of a harbour vessel of no military value. Within an hour or so of their entrance, one of them had been sunk by gunfire and the other two by depth charges. Shown here is the damage caused to an Eastern Suburbs of Sydney home by a Japanese shell.
