Source (WP:NFCC#4) | Vintage Ad Browser (http://www.vintageadbrowser.com/drinks-ads-1960s/34) |
Date of publication | Between around 1955 and 1970 |
Use in article (WP:NFCC#7) | Edward Whitehead |
Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8) | To support encyclopedic discussion of this work in this article. The illustration is specifically needed to support the following point(s): Schweppes ad portrays Commander Whitehead as an urbane clubman and successful executive; the ad copy shows his drinkmaking expertise, concluding with a near-Bondian "Don't stir." |
Not replaceable with free media because (WP:NFCC#1) |
It's a historical image, they'll never be a free version (until the copyright finally expires). |
Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3) | It's small and fuzzy -- you can't even the read the copy. It's only used once in the one article. |
Respect for commercial opportunities (WP:NFCC#2) |
There's no commercial possibility for this image. In the unlikely event that Schweppes wants to use the character again, they'll make new pics with a new actor; if they want to work in these old ads, they'll use their master files not this unreadable print. Nor does the circulation of this image hinder that in any way, nor is there any other commercial application that I can think of -- of somebody wants the image for a book or whatever, they won't want this small fuzzy version. |
