Summary

Description
English: On 5 December 1988, using FCO-headed notepaper, I typed a letter and mailed it to The Guardian newspaper (see Image:PatrickHaseldine3A). On 6 December 1988, journalist Richard Norton-Taylor telephoned me at the FCO to confirm that I wished the letter to be published. On 7 December 1988, Mr Norton-Taylor wrote a front page article entitled FO official calls Thatcher stance 'self-righteous' and The Guardian published the letter under the heading The double standards on terrorism on page 22. A year later, my second letter entitled Finger of suspicion was published in the The Guardian on 7 December 1989 (see Image:PatrickHaseldine3B). —PJHaseldine (talk) 09:59, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
