Summary

Description
English: Size comparison of Panthera fossilis and Panthera spelaea extinct lions, compared to a human. Size estimation based off of "From giant to dwarf: A trend of decreasing size in Panthera spelaea (Goldfuss, 1810) and its likely implications" by Adrian Marciszak and Wiktoria Gornig published in Earth History and Biodiversity in September 2024. Silhouettes based off of illustrations by Wiktoria Gornig, released under a CC-BY 4.0 license in the same paper. Human silhouettes based on those from the Pioneer Plaque, which are public domain.
