English: This cairn commemorates the events of November 22nd, 1886, when local crofters entered the peninsula of Park, Lewis, which had been converted into a deer hunting area, which had led to the dispossession of numerous locals, and killed a large number of deer to "focus public attention on the poverty and injustice they suffered under the oppression of heartless landlords who dispossessed their forebearers from over thirty villages in Park." (quoted from the plate at the monument. Further information available.)
