They were to be demolished as part of the Martineau Galleries development, which was also to redevelop the site of the Priory Square shopping area and Carling Academy site in Birmingham.
The development was being carried out by the Birmingham Alliance, the group who have already completed such projects as the Bullring and Martineau Place. *Demolition was to begin in 2008.
