These are based on the arms of Wallace "of Asholme, Northumberland, England" (Gules, a lion rampant argent a bordure compony of the second and azure), as borne by w:Thomas Wallace, 1st Baron Wallace (1768-1844) "of Knaresdale in the County of Northumberland" who resided at Featherstone Castle, Northumberland, near Asholme (in the parish of Lambley, Northumberland), the seat of his ancestor Thomas Wallace who purchased Asholme in 1637. (Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884, p.1067).
