'"A Coroa Mural, na parte superior, classifica a cidade na segunda grandeza, isto é, sede de Comarca. A águia simboliza poder, prosperidade e altruísmo. O berrante, sob suas garras, lembra a pecuária, umas das principais atividades econômicas da região. As faixas onduladas abaixo da águia representam os córregos Prosa e Segredo. Na parte de baixo desdobra-se uma faixa, em cujas extremidades estão realçados os anos: 1872 (Fundação do Arraial) e 1899 (elevação à categoria de Município). "
