It is unclear to the uploader whether or not this image from the British Raj would be subject to Pakistani, Indian, or British copyright laws. However, this does not matter as it counts as Public Domain in any case.
Wikimedia commons also requires images be Public Domain in the United States. The book the image was extracted from was from 2011 (definitely not PD), but was a re-publication of a work initially published in 1930 ( https://books.google.nl/books?id=I92QyAEACAAJ ) - This book, if not published in the US, falls under PD-1996 as published outside the United States (and not published in the U.S. within 30 days) - If it were published, This book could not be found in the stanford copyright database - https://exhibits.stanford.edu/copyrightrenewals/catalog?utf8=%E2%9C%93&forward=home&exhibit_id=copyrightrenewals&search_field=search&q=History+of+the+5th+Royal+Gurkha+Rifles , meaning copyright was not renewed for the book and would fall under PD-US-not renewed . As such, the book and images inside of it are Public Domain.
