Three A7V tanks and their crews, from left to right ‘Baden I’, ‘Cyklop’ and ‘Gretchen’. After the Second battle of Villers-Bretonneux, Mephisto’s tank unit ‘Abteilung 3’ regrouped at the nearby town of Rozieres. The German use of A7V tanks at Villers-Bretonneux was the most effective tank attack of the war. Black & white photograph - Glass original half plate negative.
