History

edit

Snyder Funeral Homes was established in 1922 by Ora O. Snyder and his wife Marion Lucas Snyder in Johnsville, Morrow County, Ohio. Of their thirteen children, four joined their parents in the family firm.[1] Ora's sons Richard A. Snyder, Robert L. Snyder, and Phillip C. Snyder incorporated the business on January 2, 1963.[2]

The company operates multiple locations, including the "Snyder Funeral Homes, Fredericktown Chapel" in Fredericktown, also known as the Tuttle House on the National Register of Historic Places;[3][4] and the "Snyder Funeral Homes, Denzer Chapel" in Marion listed as the Cummin's Home on the building's historical marker.[5] As of 2024, the Snyder Funeral Homes has sixteen locations.
