WA Navbox and EG variants.

edit

There are now four EG variants, and all of them are listed in "Radial".

The EG Variants, in order of creation, are Expansive Grid, Inversive Grid, Reversive Grid, and Condensive Grid.

Should we separarte EG variants from non-branched radial and ultra variants? James1011R (talk, contribs) 15:25, 9 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

I have a new idea for a Word Association Variant.

edit

Frame Association.

It is played like a regular Ultra game, but it has colored frames.

Inside the frames the words must associate.

Across the frames the words must disassociate.

Right now I'm hosting the 9x9 version at Disassociation Deviants.

See both the 9x9 and 11x11 Frame Association versions at User:James1011R/Word Association. James1011R (talk, contribs) 21:24, 10 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Why was Psychedelic WA discontinued?

edit

When looking at the history of Game #18, I found there used to be Psychedelic WA, with unusual ideas every round.

Why was it removed? James1011R (talk, contribs) 13:49, 10 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

I've created a new Word Association game!

Come play it here! Thanks! —Preceding undated comment added 04:11, 26 November 2012 (UTC)

Where's the Game?

I couldn't find a link to the actual game. Thanks. LM103 (talk) 23:56, 30 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Yet Another WA Game Idea

edit

You have a diamond shaped 11x11 grid, the cells not part are black.

Played Radial (not reverse-radial) style, you expand from the center into the points.

It is called crystal association.

An Expansive Grid version will be called Liquid Crystal and a Ultra Cross version will be called Adamantine. James1011R (talk, contribs) 15:45, 13 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Good idea! I'd play that. Whoop whoop pull up Bitching Betty | Averted crashes 22:09, 13 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hardcore Ultra nominated for deletion

Question about branches

edit

Can I play the main game and a branch at the same time, i.e. can I add a word to the main game and one to the branch in the same edit (or two consecutive edits)? --(agnamaracs) (talk) 17:54, 10 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Yes. Just don't play two words on the same game/branch. This applies to most games, except "Double Association" where you're supposed to play two words for everything instead of one. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.155.75.15 (talk) 14:06, 2 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Squaretree variant

edit

Should I kill it, leave it, or limit it to Ultra fruit? James1011R (talk, contribs) 05:10, 11 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Heatmap variant

Should I make one? You can see the proposal here: User:James1011R/Forge_2.0/GameRoom James1011R (talk, contribs) 05:10, 11 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Continuity (?)

edit

I guess I'm just slow, but I don't see that word X is related to word X+1 in this game. What does it mean to be "related"? Is it only that some user sees any kind of connection? (I might be a little thrown because this resembles a game my family has played where often it's a two-word phrase and the connection usually builds from the second part. Example: post office, office supplies, Air Supply, airport, Port-au-Prince... We're not pedantic about it, but there's generally some word/homonym overlap between a word and its successor.) Jkgree (talk) 18:54, 2 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Whatever the first word makes the editor think of becomes the next word. This can lead to some very large disparations between the words, if an outside observer is not privy to the editor's thoughts. Sometimes that could be a homo-overlap, but other times it could conjure thoughts on song lyrics that have nothing to do with them, the creator of the work, or even an inside joke about it. The beauty of the game is the sometimes disjointed nature of it. Just my 2-cents, Elfabet (talk) 12:22, 3 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Almost done

edit

After over two years, this game seems to be almost complete. One question, who's gonna pick the next word? Do we have a special method for doing that, or what? RteeeeKed💬📖 23:19, 11 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

If we're going off of Special:Random, I clicked it and got Fautor richeri. RteeeeKed💬📖 19:09, 18 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Game 34 - 100th word reached - would like to start a branch, don't know how to...

edit

Hi. I have placed the 100th word in the main branch of Game 34, and would like to start a branch of that game. I do not know how to do this, and cannot find any instructions for it. Anyone able to help me please? Thanks! Dane|Geld 15:19, 23 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

Changing other people's edits... I think I'm possibly going to be in trouble...

edit

Someone playing the game keeps marking the 10th word thing in the wrong way. I've corrected it a few times now, they're marking every 11th word, which is confusing when you're trying to remember to mark the next 10th word! I may be in trouble for modifying someone else's edits, so until I can figure it out, I'm gonna step back from the game. Once I clarify whether I'm ok to go on, or if I'm on Jankers, then I'll deal with it. Thanks. Dane|Geld 17:16, 23 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

I keep marking the 11th word when I do it as its meant to be that whoever does the 10th word is meant to put it is that tenth word but whoever keeps putting the next tenth word doesn't do it. Please anyone, if you write the word that is before the next 10, please indicate it is that one. Eg. <!--220th word-->, <!--230th word-->, <!--240th word--> etc. Difficultly north (talk) Time, department skies 16:37, 24 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'm sorry if I offended you - I've been moving the 11th word marks, back to the next 10th word. I keep getting confused and trying to figure out how far we're through. There were notes in the results of the last game indicating that there were miscounts, I think. My mathematics sucks! Sorry :) Dane|Geld 22:11, 25 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
No worries. I wasn't offended. I was just getting frustrated when people didn't mark the 10th word. Difficultly north (talk) Time, department skies 14:51, 26 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

Origin of Word Association

edit

I wonder if this should be included. Digging back, it appears the first game began on July 6, 2005 with the word "free". [1]. 71.29.14.29 (talk) 00:36, 26 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
