- Please don't delete this image. I'm getting tired of getting any image I upload deleted. Just don't do that, please! Videmus Omnia is just being an idiot. Alex 03:19, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
- Alex, I think you need to refrain from insulting other users. There is obviously a reason for so many of the images that you upload getting deleted, maybe you should read the wiki guidlines on image copyrights etc. I have little idea about copyrights and the like, and thats why I don't put images up. Maybe before you upload any more pictures/images, you should make sure that they will not violate any copyright laws. Remember, the reason for deleting such images is basically to prevent wiki being sued! Nouse4aname 08:56, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

- Keep The criteria is whether this is replaceable. Since there isn't any way to replace this with a free image, there's no reason to get rid of it and the article, which is about a model, really needs a picture of her because otherwise it's an empty, lifeless article.Rebochan 13:13, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
- Why can't this be replaced with a free image? Videmus Omnia Talk 16:54, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
- Because there are no free images in existence - trust me, I've looked. It's also not possible to create one. Unless the only criteria is that, in theory, at some point in time, a free image could appear, but in that case, the policy should be changed to "No non-free images under any circumstances." - Image is of a video game cartridge with a copyrighted label, user claims they created the image and released it as such, copyright violation Ejfetters 03:50, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
- Keep, I don't see how it's a copyright violation. It's like the photo of artwork example: a photograph of a painting would be copyvio if untagged but a photograph of a statue contains elements of the photographer's skill, so it belongs to him. The photographer in this case has released the image under GFDL. Axem Titanium 04:44, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

- I put "created work" because I took the picture. If the issue is of a copyrighted label then I suggest to please use a tag related to copyrighted computer/video game media. - Still a copyrighted image that has been "copied" by someone else, why not just upload an original, since the user said they "traced" the original. This would be more sufficient, as this still appear to be a copyright violation, since its been copied by someone other than the creator/copyright holder. Ejfetters 13:04, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
- It was probably traced so that the crest appear clearer. The original was on a game cover, so it would probably have been "dirtier" if it had been scanned. Kariteh 13:12, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

- I am sorry, but again, this image is not necessary. The photograph on the card is clearly copyrighted, but no mention of who holds the copyright or souce of it are listed. Furthermore, there is no rationale. And lastly, it is hardly encylopedic that there is a credit card out there with the band's image on it, I am sure many images on Wikipedia have credit cards or equivalents with the images on them, this should be deleted Ejfetters 11:28, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
- Strong Keep. Did you not read the summary? It reads, "It's a low resolution image, owned by the MYplash company, that is going to be used in the Simple Plan article..." There is no other way to replace this image in terms of text aswell. The section in the article serves strongly that Simple Plan is no longer just the indie band that they were, but in fact a hugely marketed success. I'm saying this a lot, but repetition is the key. This is ridiculous. Why are you, Ejfetters, so insistent on deleting every single image on the Simple Plan article. In other words, you've either deleted or are trying delete every single image on the Simple Plan article. Why? This has gone to far. — Ian Lee (Talk) 19:42, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

- Have you seen the original image? Perhaps it is less clear than the redraw? or filled with hard to read fonts or copyrighted characters? Perhaps only exists "in game" as a screen scroll. I suspect a scan of the map is more likely to be nominated for deletion. *KEEP this, it is harmless. --Knulclunk 23:02, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
- Weak Delete as it is just plain ol butt-ugly, but it would be nice to have a world map for the article. Note that that is a map of FFVIII's world though, even though the file name is FFVII. Tarc 00:21, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
- Butt ugly? Than request a redraw. Don't delete a useful image. --Knulclunk 03:16, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
- Delete not because it is ugly, it is a copy of a copyrighted image. The original image should be uploaded instead of a user created copy of it. There are screen caps in the legend of zelda series of complete maps that look good, for several games in the series, see the Hyrule article. This seems to have been done properly there. - You are welcome. Each of the wikipedia sites in various languages has their own category system. They usually prioritize their categories to mainly include images labeled in the language of that wikipedia. If the images have text on them. So people using English wikipedia categories do not have to wade through the many maps labeled in other languages on the commons. Also, non-English wikipedias use their own language to name their categories. So it is usually easier to find images in the category system set up for each other-language wikipedia. --Timeshifter 01:31, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

- Having image description pages only on commons makes it harder for editors to find images they want/need for articles. Commons does have a better browsing system, but removing the browsing system from en just makes the encyclopaedia worse. Many users do not use commons, and since the image is already there commons doesn't suffer - there's no reason en.wiki should. WilyD 13:37, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

- The problem is that frequently museums want to raise revenue by selling images of items in their collections for use in books, articles, etc. If you needed this image to illustrate a history book you were writing, you'd just license it from the museum for use in your book. But Wikipedia doesn't allow us to do that. (Well, in theory it could go out and arrange permissions for thousands of images, but that would be expensive, and would not be GFDL-compatible.) - This coin is in the Ashmolean Museum. While I believe that they permit some photography (handheld only) for "personal use" arguably that would not include inclusion in Wikipedia. And even if it were, it would be shot through a case at a distance and not show the coin or the guy on it anywhere near as clearly. Crypticfirefly 05:48, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
