Category message-box standardisation has been revived and a standard did reach consensus and is being deployed. See the meta-template {{cmbox}} and its talk page. |
In accordance with the ongoing standardisation of templates, this page is intended to help coordinate a standard and consistent design for category message boxes, that is, message boxes or category templates used to provide information about the category.
Scope
editThis project includes the standardisation of all category header templates, including CfD tags and the general set of header templates. Not included are interwiki templates, utility templates, or templates that provide criteria for inclusion in the category.
Reasoning
editSee Wikipedia:Category message boxes/Pre-standardization. We currently have several different styles of headers, only a few of which of which are even remotely similar. Standardising templates should help users identify the information being imparted at a glance and improve the use of these categories.
Ideally, this project will seek to address:
- A new color-coding scheme that is easy to identify and use
- Standard design
- Generally nicer-looking designs
- Easily implemented
