Typ 94 Nambu Pistol

edit

I am concerned about your decision to delist a good article without it going through good article reassessment along with deleting sourced info on the basis of it being Original Research. I rolled you edits and would like to talk about this further. Every sentence has a citation, and wanton deleting can be seen as vandalism. --Molestash (talk) 00:52, 17 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry you think my edits are "vandalism". The real issue is that the article is not GA material. First, there's a glaring date conflict. Second, the article has a fairly heavy POV slant and appears to be making a judgement call regarding whether this weapon was well-designed or not. Encyclopedic articles aren't supposed to do that. Third, the lede itself makes a number of POV claims that the gun is poorly designed and none of them are sourced. Fourth, the writing itself contains a great deal of passive voice... passive voice is generally a sign of weak writing and an article that contains a lot of it is not GA material. My edits to the lede improved the POV claims and some of the passive voice, yet you've reverted the edits, which degrades the quality of the article. Then you accused me of vandalism, which makes me think you want to WP:OWN the article. Do you want the article to be good, or do you want to control it? Wikipedia is a collaborative environment, so you need to accept that articles you work on will be edited by others, and that in many cases this is for the better. These article issues need to be dealt with if you want this to remain a good article. You can fix them or I can, but as it currently stands, ChrisGualtieri missed a lot of issues in his review. The Master ---)Vote Saxon(--- 00:50, 19 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
I apologize for the inappropriate use of the rollback. I should be slapped with a trout and see what you mean about the article not being up to GA standards. I have begun the rewrite with issues noted above and appreciate the help. I would like to use the renomination page for discussion from there. Thank you, for the input on the article. --Molestash (talk) 03:48, 19 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. Gamaliel and others arbitration case opened

edit

You recently offered a statement in a request for arbitration. The Arbitration Committee has accepted that request for arbitration and an arbitration case has been opened at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Gamaliel and others. The scope of this case is Gamaliel's recent actions (both administrative and otherwise), especially related to the Signpost April Fools Joke. The case will also examine the conduct of other editors who are directly involved in disputes with Gamaliel. The case is strictly intended to examine user conduct and alleged policy violations and will not examine broader topic areas. The clerks have been instructed to remove evidence which does not meet these requirements. The drafters will add additional parties as required during the case. Evidence that you wish the arbitrators to consider should be added to the evidence subpage, at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Gamaliel and others/Evidence.

Please add your evidence by May 2, 2016, which is when the evidence phase closes. You can also contribute to the case workshop subpage, Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Gamaliel and others/Workshop. For a guide to the arbitration process, see Wikipedia:Arbitration/Guide to arbitration. This notification is being sent to those listed on the case notification list. If you do not wish to recieve further notifications, you are welcome to opt-out on that page. Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Gamaliel and others closed

edit

An arbitration case regarding Gamaliel and others has now closed and the final decision is viewable at the link above. The following remedies have been enacted:

  1. Gamaliel is admonished for multiple breaches of Wikipedia policies and guidelines including for disrupting Wikipedia to make a point, removing a speedy deletion notice from a page he created, casting aspersions, and perpetuating what other editors believed to be a BLP violation.
  2. DHeyward and Gamaliel are indefinitely prohibited from interacting with or discussing each other anywhere on Wikipedia, subject to the usual exemptions.
  3. DHeyward (talk · contribs) is admonished for engaging in incivility and personal attacks on other editors. He is reminded that all editors are expected to engage respectfully and civilly with each other and to avoid making personal attacks.
  4. For conduct which was below the standard expected of an administrator — namely making an incivil and inflammatory close summary on ANI, in which he perpetuated the perceived BLP violation and failed to adequately summarise the discussion — JzG is admonished.
  5. Arkon is reminded that edit warring, even if exempt, is rarely an alternative to discussing the dispute with involved editors, as suggested at WP:CLOSECHALLENGE.
  6. The community is encouraged to hold an RfC to supplement the existing WP:BLPTALK policy by developing further guidance on managing disputes about material involving living persons when that material appears outside of article space and is not directly related to article-content decisions.

First, you're wrong. I did do BEFORE so stop saying that I didn't. Second, even if I had not done BEFORE, that doesn't make the AfD invalid, it makes the nomination invalid. Big difference. Proposed deletion of Jesse Waugh

edit

The article Jesse Waugh has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Promotional article of non-notable subject with misleading sources. Freewaves is not MOCA, and isn't enough to establish notability.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Working together over Machine Project

edit

Hello The Master, I see you have followed me over to Machine Project and made some edits there. Machine Project is an article I created way back when, and recently made some edits on. Welcome your support in working on that article in a productive way, but please don't blow it up. You deleted a bunch of things that are quite NPOV and not OR. It would have been more helpful if you added some citations, rather than just deleting. Here are a few quick examples:

Or at worst, just put a [citation needed] on it. I am going to revert the edits, and add [citation needed] to the items that clearly need it (rather than deleting them). I agree that the last paragraph could probably go for now. I'm going to move it to the talk page, with a note that some of that could be added back later w/ good WP:RS. I welcome you assisting me in adding those citations in. --Theredproject (talk) 01:04, 27 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

That seems fine, just please don't source exceptional claims to primary sources. I'll see what I can add as well. The Master ---)Vote Saxon(--- 01:07, 27 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Agreed. Anything that I may have sourced in such a way was a long long time ago. 10 years ago. When bare URLs were fine for citations. Though many others have edited in between, so likely they added. At this point, the project/space just closed, and they ran a major story in the LA Times, so there is a lot to go on there. Kind of an obit, so to speak, for the project/space. Going to bed now, but will work on in the next few days--Theredproject (talk) 01:12, 27 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Same with Etiquette in Society, in Business, in Politics, and at Home. Emily Post's Etiquette is pretty important, so it doesn't need the flags.--Theredproject (talk) 01:24, 27 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
It may be important, but we can't source an article about a book to the book itself (exclusively primary sources). Maybe it would be better merged with the page about the author if no third-party sources are available covering the book. The Master ---)Vote Saxon(--- 01:31, 27 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Deletion discussion about Airlife Magazine

edit

Hello, The Master, and welcome to Wikipedia. I edit here too, under the username GeoffreyT2000, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Airlife Magazine, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Airlife Magazine.

You might like to note that such discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. And, our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|GeoffreyT2000}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!
