My draft, Glory to the Heroes (video game)

edit

Hello, while searching for more sources I found that the Ukrainian Wikipedia already has a page for the Game. I was wondering if there is any way to link the two pages when my draft gets accepted Salfanto (talk) 13:59, 5 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Salfanto: Yes, this is done through Wikidata. The item is Glory to the Heroes (Q117484470). Skyshiftertalk 14:49, 5 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Also I wanted to ask if the Ukrainian site Gamedev.dou.ua and the Indie Cup are considered as primary sources. Salfanto (talk) 14:56, 5 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Salfanto: The Indie Cup source is primary; the Indie Cup themselves are saying what the nominees are. Gamedev doesn't seem to be primary; however, it doesn't seem reliable. From the URL, it seems that it is a forum, which would be WP:UGC. Skyshiftertalk 15:21, 5 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
I found that odd because the link says it's a form yet it's structured as an article and the only chat on that website is comments on articles Salfanto (talk) 15:26, 5 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Even if it's not a forum, its reliability is uncertain, so I wouldn't count it for notability/GNG unless its reliability can be demonstrated. Skyshiftertalk 15:52, 5 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Also I found a source from the indie cup's website that goes into detail about the game. Here's the link: https://indiecup.net/ukraine/participants/glory-to-the-heroes/ Salfanto (talk) 15:39, 5 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Salfanto: The text is clearly written by the developers themselves; some parts read "our products", "we"... Skyshiftertalk 15:51, 5 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
In the about developer section or the main body of the article? Salfanto (talk) 15:53, 5 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, you can read that in the body of the article. Skyshiftertalk 15:54, 5 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yeah I just found it. Also would these articles be considered primary sources?
Article 1: https://kpi.ua/en/2022-10-25-rtf
Article 2: https://babel.ua/en/texts/92773-in-the-shooter-glory-to-the-heroes-it-was-offered-to-play-a-war-on-the-side-of-the-russians-there-are-also-games-about-bucha-and-mariupol-why-is-this-normal-we-are-looking-for-answers-together-with-th Salfanto (talk) 16:03, 5 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Salfanto: There is a difference between primary and independent. For GNG a source has to be: non-primary, independent, reliable, and give significant coverage. Article 1 for example is not primary, however it is not independent because it is Kyiv Polytechnic Institute reporting about a graduate from Kyiv Polytechnic Institute creating a game. So it doesn't count for notability. Article 2 is, apparently, okay. The authors of the article seems to have some graduations and have worked for other Ukranian journals. However, I can't say for sure that it is reliable (and in turn, if it counts for GNG). Skyshiftertalk 16:12, 5 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the info. I'll keep on improving the article Salfanto (talk) 16:59, 5 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi Skyshifter! I noticed that you added {{R with Wikidata item}} to Droopy Likes Your Face & Droopy Likes Ricochet. I just wanted to check whether you intended for them to be linked on Wikidata to:

My guess is to the latter two items, given they're the ones connected on Wikidata to Minecraft – Volume Alpha (Q1523255) 2011 video game soundtrack album by C418, but I just wanted to check :)

Speedy deletion nomination of I'm the Devil

edit

A tag has been placed on I'm the Devil requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a recently created redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer, or other unlikely search term.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.   Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. About reviewing "Sea of Voices"

edit

Hey Skyshifter! I do appreciate you jumping on yet another review of one of my articles, but as I alluded to in one of our earlier conversations, I believe it may not be appropriate for you to act as a reviewer on this article due to our extensive collaboration in this topic area. This is especially true as we're currently co-nominators on Worlds. I'll leave the ultimate decision up to you, but I wanted to voice my thoughts about it before moving forward with it. Let me know what you think. TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 17:01, 14 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

@TechnoSquirrel69: I think it's fine; we just edit about the same artist. My GA reviews are the same whatever the topic is or whoever the nominator is, as the GA criteria are objective. I think there would be a problem only if i.e. I made a less extensive review or with less attention to the GA criteria just because it's an article related to Robinson. Thank you for your warning.

edit

Hi Skyshifter,

I removed all of the photos on my wikimedia commons page. I will ask the photographer to upload them himself. How can he prove it to you that he is actually the photographer who owns the photos, so that he does not get the warning for himself?

Bespinyowong (talk) 00:53, 25 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Bespinyowong: he needs to send a ticket through c:COM:VRT. Skyshiftertalk 00:55, 25 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
In fact it may not even be needed to remove the photos if this is done. And if they're deleted, they could be restored. VRT is how his identity and permission can be confirmed. Skyshiftertalk 00:58, 25 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you.
I am the first-time user, and my intention was to help improve the wikipedia page of Wisp (musician) my daughter. My cousins who took these photos told me to upload these photos on wikimedia so I can use them and share them to the world. I did not really know much about the rules and regulations, pardon me for my lack of reading. I know that a user on wikipedia undone all of my edit versions to the version you updated yesterday, that's okay. I learned from him that it's about the Conflict of Interest, and that I did not provide reference on anything because that info is from myself, not secondary sources. I'm really sadden that all the time I dedicated to do all of this are in vain because I did not do it right. I am sorry if I cause you any frustration or annoy you in anyway. I already removed my wikimedia page.
Thank you,

FAC review for Windswept Adan

edit

Hello again Skyshifter! I've recognized you as someone who has a proclivity for and expertise in writing quality music-related articles (in particular, I was the one who reviewed your work on the GA nom for Crest and the FAC nom for I'm God, and I also noticed your recently-listed FA Worlds), and was wondering if you would be interested in providing any unbiased feedback on the FAC review for my nomination. Of course, you are in no way obligated to conduct a review if you do not feel the topic is something of interest to you, and I am not citing my previous reviews as a reason for quid pro quo - I mentioned them as a way of noting that I've seen you around before in the music circles of Wikipedia. Feel free to let me know what you think about this, and it's certainly good to see you again! Hope you have an amazing week ahead of you. joeyquism (talk) 21:25, 17 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Joeyquism: thanks for reviewing my work! Might take a look later, but I don't guarantee a full review due to IRL stuff. Skyshiftertalk 23:14, 17 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Need some advice

edit

Greeting, Skyshifter! Great work on Worlds; you and TechnoSquirrel69 worked amazingly! Since you have experience in music-related articles, I'd like to know how to improve one of my favorite songs ("Heat Waves") to GA status. Where do I find reliable sources? Thanks, TWOrantulaTM (enter the web) 23:38, 6 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, @TrademarkedTWOrantula! I just use Google to find sources, though looking through magazines (through Google Books, Internet Archive, etc.) might be useful especially for older songs. Most reliable music publications are listed on WP:A/S, and if they're not listed there, they're likely reliable if they have a Wikipedia article. To try to find more useful results on Google I filter by adding keywords related to the song (i.e. "heat waves" "pop", "heat waves" "dreamland", with the quotation marks). I also try filtering by date (i.e. I look for the date the song was released and filter to only find results around that month). Album reviews will also be useful for composition and reception. You can also try looking for the song's position in year-end lists if any. Skyshiftertalk 15:42, 7 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Your WikiCup submission: Sea of Voices

edit

Hi Skyshifter, thanks for participating in the WikiCup. You recently submitted Sea of Voices for GA topic points in the WikiCup, but you do not seem to have been a major contributor to the article. Though your name does not appear on the list of 10 top contributors to that page, about 97% of the text was written by two other editors. Unfortunately, Sea of Voices is not eligible for GA topic points as a result.

However, since you are a significant contributor to the other three articles in Wikipedia:Featured and good topic candidates/Worlds (Porter Robinson album)/archive1, you are allowed to claim points for those. Epicgenius (talk) 14:07, 11 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Epicgenius: Oh, I thought I had to put every article from the topic in my submission. It was a mistake. Thank you for letting me know! Skyshiftertalk 14:15, 11 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Skyshifter, no problem. I will check the wording of the rules again, but if you're claiming points for a topic, you should only list any articles where you would be a significant contributor. – Epicgenius (talk) 14:24, 11 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
