Speedy deletion nomination of WASP-28 b
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on WASP-28 b requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Shadowjams (talk) 01:04, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
Blank articles
editPlease don't create the article if you don't have the time to make it into at least something that is identifiable. It does not help readers to have blank articles like those linked above, and it creates workload for others. You can start pages in your userspace and work on them as you have time. User:SenseiAC/New page would be an example. Shadowjams (talk) 01:07, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, I am sorry about it, concerning WASP-28 b I am going to develop it right now, so please do not delete it. SenseiAC (talk) 01:10, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

Why did you undo the swap? The moon has now officially been christened Valetudo. Urhixidur (talk) 22:10, 4 October 2018 (UTC)
- User:Urhixidur : because a renaming mustn't be done by copy-pasting the text from an article to another. A proper renaming has to be done to properly respect the authors' rights. I have deposited a renaming request since I cannot do it myself. Please do it properly if you can do it, otherwise let people who can do it do it properly. Thank you in advance. editMove of Bauhinia × blakeana
editIt is simply wrong to say that "Bauhinia ×blakeana" is correct. Either form is acceptable. Major sources such as Plants of the World Online (see here) and Tropicos (see here) use the spaced form, while others such as GRIN (see here) use the unspaced form. The convention in WP:PLANTS has been to use the spaced form. A move like the one you made requires prior discussion and consensus. Peter coxhead (talk) 16:39, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
- Hi (!) Peter coxhead, OK I note what you say (and so, despite what you say and at the same time according to what you say, Bauhinia ×blakeana is indeed correct, maybe not the only correct form, but nonetheless a correct form). I was not aware that this convention (with spacing) had been adopted here, so thank you for the message. For me, normally, the spacing is used when we write explicitly the crossing between e.g. two species (Gen1 spec1 × Gen2 spec2) or genera (Gen1 × Gen2), while no spacing is used when it is directly the name of the crossing (Genus ×spec). It seems more consistent since it is not a crossing between (here) Bauhinia in one side and blakeana on the other. I am not saying that the spaced version is wrong, just that for me it is less consistent and potentially confusing (especially when, unfortunately, the uppercase/lowercase of the first letter is not well respected). Anyway, I'll do with the conventions adopted here. SenseiAC (talk) 17:57, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
- Sorry, yes, you're right that "Bauhinia ×blakeana" is correct; what I should have written is that it's not a valid reason for moving to say that "Bauhinia ×blakeana" is correct, since the spaced form is also correct.
- I think that the spaced form was adopted here because editors sometimes use "x" for "×" – and definitely did so more often in the past. Then if you use the form "Bauhinia xblakeana" (with or without italicizing the "x"), searches don't find "blakeana" as a separate word. The same issue arises with nothogenera, as for example × Gasteraloe, where the spaced form is the norm here. Peter coxhead (talk) 10:46, 30 December 2020 (UTC)
- Peter coxhead Right. Redirects from one form (x or ×, with space or without) to the other (the one chosen for the title, whichever it is) solve easily this search problem, and can also prevent “false red links” (I mean, red links to a subject that actually already has an article under another title). Whatever the convention adopted here, such redirects are certainly a good thing to have. SenseiAC (talk) 14:05, 30 December 2020 (UTC)
- As far as I know, Google doesn't find Wikipedia redirects. I guess you'd have to set up a redirect like "Bauhinia xblakeana" → "Bauhinia × blakeana" and see what happened if you searched outside Wikipedia for "Bauhinia xblakeana". I've never seen such a redirect. Peter coxhead (talk) 11:01, 31 December 2020 (UTC)
