RoySmith That's the problem with previously deleted versions not being visible to reviewers - we have no basis for comparison so we must judge the draft as it stands. Another factor is the apathy towards AFC by the vast majority of regular editors, we cannot force topic specialists to participate in reviewing - the small number of active reviewers cannot possibly be experts on every concievable subject. It comes down to a judgement call by someone who knows practically nothing about video games/gamers. The sources seem reasonable = must accept. AFC is inherently biased towards accepting marginal drafts, if a reviewer cannot make a sound case for declining a submission (within the constraints of the valid decline reasons given in the AFC workflow) it must be accepted. You are of course free to start a deletion process. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 16:23, 10 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
OK, fair enough. I do appreciate the effort that gets put into AFC. You guys who review stuff there are our first line of defense! I didn't mean any disrespect, I was just surprised to see this pop up again. Yes, I'm going to bring it back to AfD. 18:55, 10 July 2016 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of FREAKAZOiD

edit

A tag has been placed on FREAKAZOiD requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

The purpose of the tempundelete template is so people can see the previous history. This was just recreated without undeletion and has no history.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, pages that meet certain criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Twitch gameplay != Twitch website

edit

Prisencolin, your redirect from Twitch gameplay to Twitch.tv doesn't make sense. For a start, you broke over >100 article incoming links (though those could be fixed). But more important, the website is not commonly known with the term "twitch gameplay" (certainly not more that the gameplay concept), and therefore it can't be the primary topic for that term.

It would make sense to have Twitch.tv as the primary topic for the term "Twitch", if no other prominent concept used that name; but not "Twitch gameplay". A primary topic needs to be the most common meaning for the specific term. Diego (talk) 15:16, 12 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

"Twitch gameplay" sounds like it's missing a preposition, like the phrase "watch gameplay on twitch". In my mind there's no way that the website is the primary topic for just "twitch"--Prisencolin (talk) 03:12, 13 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Recommendation of Smash players going by real name

edit

The recent name updates with smash players have been a bit confusing. For example, Mango's common name is not C9 Mango, he is sponsored by them, C9 is not apart of his gamer tag so WP:NATURAL would suggest Mango (eSports player) as preferred. However, because of ssbwiki, I think it is better to use Smash players real names to avoid possible confusion. Valoem talk contrib 17:13, 17 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Sure, why not. There is ESPN coverage now that refers to them by their real names.--Prisencolin (talk) 22:39, 17 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of FREAKAZOiD

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on FREAKAZOiD, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Your comment to User:Colonies Chris

edit

Hello Prisencolin, I posted the following response to Colonies Chris' incorrect statement on his talkpage before he reverted it:

Actually, it has nothing to do whatsoever with the intelligence or background knowledge of our readers. Linking should be contextual so we should link to major items that relate to the article in question, and not "every single thing". If we have an article about a specific breed of dog, it would be odd for the word "dog" not to be linked to dog yet most of our readers know what a dog is. Please work harder in this regard. The Rambling Man (talk) 21:55, 30 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Chris has a real problem with being picked up on when he uses his scripts, and his response in this particular case is really troubling, it appears he's completely lost sight of how Wikipedia best benefits our readers with links to contextually relevant articles. Instead he's actively assuming our readers already know what they're most likely to be looking for. Very sad and destructive. Please continue to notify him if you disagree with his continually disagreeable edits. It may take some time, but eventually we'll get there, I'm sure. Best. Long split

edit

I don't see the logic of the split, nor why you've moved some of the Chinese Longs and not others. In any case, as it stands, your new article denies the contributors of the material in the new article of the attribution they're due for their efforts. {{Copied}} is the template you need to fix things. Regards, for (;;) (talk) 12:49, 2 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

It seems like the only way to correctly link to other language Wikipedias. Currently the Long (surname) page is only associated with the Wikidata entry that goes to German and Russian WPs, where as there a separate one for Chinese, Cantonese, Japanese, etc, which are more germaine to the topic. As for attribution, there's probably a way to merge the histories, although it might be a bit tedious.--Prisencolin (talk) 21:25, 2 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Non-free rationale for File:Teemo lantern.jpeg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Teemo lantern.jpeg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

I removed the Proposed Deletion tag you placed on ClanBase EuroCup. Please be patient. The Wikipedia:Articles for deletion process usually takes 7 or 8 days to complete and this article has only been at AfD for 3 days. Proposed Deletion is out of process once an Articles for Deletion discussion has started. There is no way to hurry along the process, so please just be patient for 4 or 5 days. I am pretty sure the article will be deleted from the looks of things. Thanks. Safiel (talk) 18:47, 17 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Speedy deletion nomination of Dean Harrington

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Dean Harrington requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. — Diannaa (talk) 00:12, 21 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Providing citations

edit

Hey Prisencolin. I understand that you are editing in good faith. But edits like this needs a citation in accordance with WP:V. If a third party reliable source doesn't cite the person as a "Hakka" neither should we. I get a feeling you like to edit quickly (for example this edit marking Tommy Koh as American, when he is Singaporean). However, editing quickly leads to a lot of errors and other editors need to check through the edits. My suggestion for you would be to check thoroughly before adding information. As a general rule, I always find a strong citation first before adding any content. --Lemongirl942 (talk) 06:20, 23 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Okay, I'll try to take this into consideration, thanks.--Prisencolin (talk) 00:01, 25 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Some error about EHome

edit

I see you created a page about esport club EHome. The page shows EHome was founded in 2011. However, it's wrong. EHome was not only a dota2 team. You can check article about WC3 player FIy100%. Fly100% joined the team EHome in 2009 which means EHome was founded at least before 2009 as Warcraft 3 team. Then check the 2010 result of page Electronic Sports World Cup, EHome won the Dota champion of ESWC in 2010 which is also earlier than 2011. I check some Chinese public online encyclopedia [1].EHome was actually founded in April, 2005

It's been fixed, thanks for the tip.--Prisencolin (talk) 17:41, 8 September 2016 (UTC)Reply
