Nawab of Punjab

edit

Hello @Noorullah21, the article on Adina Beg was sometime recently edited to say that he was apparently recognised as 'Nawab of Punjab' by the Emperor. A Google scholar search yielded me no results for 'Nawab of Punjab', and Google Books only gives only 3 citations (one of which is being used as the source of this claim by the editor). This claim, to me, appears extremely dubious; what do you think? PadFoot (talk) 08:28, 29 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

@PadFoot2008 From what I know, Adina Beg was the governor of the Punjab originally under Mughal rule, but he eventually asserted himself as de-facto independent.
I'm not sure if his actual title was "Nawab", I haven't seen any source for this. It could be changed to "Viceroy" instead, since I see Hari Ram Gupta describing him as such here: (pg 323) [1] Noorullah (talk) 17:54, 29 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
